Hey everyone,

For those of you who have had to replace their entire trans, where have you had a good experience? Did you buy a new trans, rebuilt trans, or remanufactured? What was the approx. cost?

My trans blew so I am in the market for another one. If you have any negative stuff or have one to sell, please PM me. Thanks

about 5 minutes ago, i gave my local mitsu dealer the OK to go ahead and just put in a new mitsu tranny. they quoted me $1800 just for the tranny, no labor. (AND thats with my friends deal, he works there. he said had he not gotten me the deal it'd have costed me around 2500)

if i wasnt already buried in debt though, i would have surely got a tranny from john shepherd. $2400 for a new tranny. www.shepracing.com

another place you can check out also, is team rip engineering i believe i just read that a new tranny was $2450 with free shipping, and a $300 credit to that, if you give them your old shitty tranny. www.teamrip.com

prices will differ if your not AWD.

dont those numbers hurt? no more modding for a while

From Chicago, the closest expert tranny God is Jon at TRE.
I have theTEAM RIP AWD race trans with GVR4 1st and 10% taller 5th and everything but cryo on the inside. Jon and Ming were very cool and the tranny has been fault free.
As mentioned John Sheperd is an excellent choice as well. With either guy, you don't have to worry about your box being buggered by gomers.

I can not say enough good about John Shepherd.

I was just out there today....yes all the way from NE PA, out to Shepherd's to have some trans work done....

On a Holiday weekend...he was willing to work.

You won't find better work or customer service.

John also gets the stuff done quick.....which shows he is dedicated....

JOHN....THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

CHRIS

I'm leaning towards sending my trans in for a rebuild. Anyone have an idea of how long that takes (generally)? Thanks for the advice.

Shepherd can probably do couple in a day by himself. I would say unless there is a back up or some other issue a regular rebuilt + goddies should done within week + return shipping.

I have heard it sometimes takes WEEKS at other places......

I would go for shepracing thats where i just sent my 90 AWD tranny to it came out to 1300 for rebuild and 90 upgrade otherwise it is 895.00 for a basic rebuild plus he is a super nice guy
