recharging a/c

i want to recharge my a/c because the cat has been sitting for 2 years and it blows semi-cool air. so i went to Advance Auto to buy the recharge kit but its for the newer a/c systems (r-134 a). does my 90 gst have r-134a or something else that they used in the 90's???

Just go to a mechanic shop that has a freon charger and they will fill it for you, not too expensive.

Im beating your car has R-12 in it, i am not for sure though, usually early 90's car ran R-12 which is illegal to buy and has been out of production since 95 or so. You might have to have your system retro fitted for R-134a which may cost some coin.

I know mine came with R-12 from the factory so a 90 would have used R-12 also. I think all the 1Gs used it.
What your car has in it now is a good question.
