Rebuilding a Cylinder head, Costs?

I'm curious about the costs of rebuilding a cylinder head.

I've talked to one of my commercial accounts at work who's a machine shop who's done 5.0 rods for me for $10 each and that was new rod bolts and resizing. He said between $200 and $250 depending on what needs done, plus parts. The reason being the valve seats are a pita.

I was at NAPAs site and they list $0.99 cents per valve seal for Clevites. Not bad, half the price of FelPro's...

The valves list $12/ea for the exhaust and $7.50/ea for the intake valves. For the $156 that it'd take to get all new stock replacements, would it be better to just get Manley for another $40 or so? Are the stock exhaust valves stainless?

Napa's site also listed $2.69 for an intake valve guide and no listing for the exhaust, are they the same?

I'd really like to go with new, upgraded valve train, but it's not in the budget. May come later though

u might as well get stainless steel valves, along with those clevite seals. it cost me 170 to get the head cleaned, decked, have 4 valves replaced and all valve seals replaced.

For me it was 280. I had the head hot-tanked, valves resurfaced, valve stem seals installed ( I supplied those), surface decked, and 3 heilacoils installed, then the whole thing assembled.

all u listed was done for me, except for helecoils. i provided the valves, they provided the valve seals.

Well, I talked to another shop to hot tanked my 5.0 block and stuff and go some prices from him too.

I got $12/ea for the valve guides, assuming they are cracked or highly worn. He said most newer cars don't wear much on the valve guides, so we should only have to replace them if they are cracked. Then I got $140 for grinding valve seats, standard or oversize. He said if they're knicked he could try and go oversize or even install new seats
