So I've reattached the A/C in my 89 Colt GT with 4G63 swap. Everything is there, but it won't take a charge. I switched it over to 134A when I put everything back in. The fans all kick on, and it all seems to work. However, the freon will not empty from the can into the freon system. The gauge on the canister reads at relatively high pressure when the system should be taking the charge. I know there is pressure in the lines (depressed the schrader valve) but it doesn't take the freon.
The only help I've gotten is from the directions saying that if there is a high pressure situation like I'm experiencing, then the compressor itself may not be working. How can I check my compressor to see if it is functioning correctly? I know I have some pressure, which leads me to believe it is working. I'd hate to throw money away at a service shop for a procedure I know I am capable of performing. How can I trouble shoot this thing and get it working? It sure is getting hot outside.
