Reason I Need A New Intake - Pics

I need a new intake because my current one is getting trashed. It came on the car and just won't bolt snug/sold. The filter is attracted to the ECU harness and eventually rubbed through it. That fried my ECU and cost me lots of money.

2nd, the intake has been rubbing into the battery post and its starting to wear into the intake itself. So, I will put something around it to protect it better with the new intake. The pic is horrible but it was raining out and I didn't want to go back out there for a re-shoot.

So I thought about getting a Long Ram to keep the filter away. However, I keep hearing about water and it kind of scares me. Does this actually happen? And what is this bypass valve I have read about? I heard you can get them at a local parts store.

Long Ram benefit/worth it more or should I stay short? Thanks guys!!

It looks like you can put a rubber silicone on the intake to help prevent your intake to rub your battery.
I would buy a long ram intake and don't be paranoid about the water touching the filter, you will have problems only if you flood the car which won't happen unless you drive it through a lake or something.

I actually had a done a little experiment and made a 3" hole on my headlight and behind it was my filter to let cold air in and I drove the car in the rain several times and never had a problem.

If you are still paranoid, summer time is coming up so you don't have to worry about rain and in case you have rainy days and you are scared about your intake just swap your short ram temporarily.

There are also things called bypass valves that can be bought for Cold Air Intake systems. Trust me, you're not alone fearing about water getting in your motor. These bypass valves go on the pipe, but higher up than the filter, that way if the filter gets submerged in water, the bypass valve will then start sucking air, so that the submerged filter doesn't take a gulp..
