I need a new rear view mirror mine makes a horrible sound when the
stereo hits.

I was wondering will any 2g mirror work I have a 98 but saw a 97 turbos
mirror on ebay. I also found some 2002 I was wondering if they would
work.

How do I get the mirror off the window?

I did a search for these thing but couldnt find anything, if there is a post
abouot this please let me know.

Thanx All.

Well usually there is a fixed part to the window, and the mirror screws onto that peice. However in your case if its just rattling I doubt its worth buying a new one. Jam some foam or something in there to keep it from rattling, youll find something :thumb:

that fixed part comes off and they make a glue kit to put it back on
(you can buy it at auto zone)

so make shure you get the whole thing

The mirror has a little sonofabitch catch on it- you slide a tiny screwdriver up into the base in the little slot on the bottom of the mount. There are two styles of 2G mirrors, the ones with the dome lights for convertibles and sunroofed cars, and one with no lights in it. Same mount. You might try to get it to stop rattling by either using a piece of matchbook cover for a shim, or drill and tap a place for a nice, simple screw to go into it like they do on real Japanese cars.

Thanks all of you, Defiant thats was exactly what I needed.
Now maybe I can fix the one I have or at least put another one on.

Thanks Again

I hope that your mirror is fixable.... if you try to fix it and it doesn't work, just pop the sucker off of the window... I am quite sure that you don't need a rear view mirror, at least where i live... i had put a bass cd in my car and it shook the rear view mirror right off... i know it is nice to have a rear view but it is your call....... :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

Hi,

Anyone know if the CIPA 36500 rearview mirror can be mounted in a spyder using the stock mount location/wiring?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi folks,

I realize that the rearview mirror on my 96 spyder is mounted to the frame above the windshield, not the windshield itself like most cars usually are.

My question is, do you know if it's possible to hook up a universal upgrade rearview mirror (such as the CIPA 36500) on a spyder?

IF so, then would it be by just removing the original mirror and mounting arm entirely, or can you attach a mirror to the ball on the mounting arm that connects to the ball joint in the back of the stock rearview mirror?

Thanks,
Jonathan

PS I'm looking at an eBay auction ending tonight, so prompt replies are appreciated greatly!

I was interested in this some time ago, but no one seemed to have any experience with upgrading their rear view so I moved on to something else. $250 is a lot fo cash to drop on something that may not work, but I'd sure like to have a compass and thermometer!

Cool mirror, but holy crap it's expensive.
Check at the junkyard- I don't know how "standard" the mount on the windshield is: look at some other cars and see what they have. Probably, Chryslers will all be the same. I don't know if it's standard across the industry. Check other AMERICAN cars, because this isn't a Japanese mount.
The wiring should be cake, though.
