Hey guys, I just took a few pictures of the progress, sandblasted subframe, painted LCA and rear sway bar and also started tearing down more parts of the rear suspension to get sandblasted. Tearing down the rear suspension is an absolute pain!!! So many rusted bolts that refuse to come off...

Dropped suspension

Painted parts and the knuckle before I had to saw a bolt off to get a lower control arm off.

Here's the sandblasted subframe, as you can see some parts were missed cause it was too tight to fully blast. Also I need to weld some plates up to it cause some places got rusted through

The lower toe control arm would NOT come off the eccentric cam bolt (oh the joy in dismantling a rusty 16 year old suspension) so I ended up sawing off what was left of the piece after grinding down the old head without thinking so no I don't know how to get it out!
Gonna have to figure that one out...

Here's the start to taking out the AWD subframe bolts out of my GSX. Yes, I know it's messy, but the location to cut into the body for the bolts isn't well illustrated on the few AWD swap how-to's so I had to find out for myself! I should have the two rear bolts out by tonight!

each side getting torn down, those castle nuts are on tight!!

Here's one of my many work benches

Here are the locks I'll be swapping to the new shell once I finish paint (once the interior's done, I'm gathering up the funds and taking it over to a hookup that I have and Ill be able to use his booth and equipment AND get his professional discount on paint!

Also a new update, I'm going to be putting a CarPC in my car! Since I work at Best Buy I get a crazy good deal on any computer components and I'm looking at putting together a Mac OS Snow Leopard Touchscreen 7" computer in the place of a double DIN head unit with full web browser and auto syncing music playlists pandora, etc!! I'm thinking about storing it where the passenger airbag used to go (since I'm going with a harness/ roll bar setup once the car's running)

I'm still trying to figure out a way to make the airbag a nice case to mount the motherboard etc...in, I cut the top part off of a passenger airbag I had laying around but now need to figure out how I'll make a support structure for it.
Also, here's my main objective right now: to get the floor pans done in the new shell.
When I stripped the interior down, paint was peeling off the two driver's support beams which support the seat rails, also the seam-seal was peeling up under the foot well with surface rust and since "I ain't cutting no dang gone corners" I took the old tar noise suppressant of the floor panels and under the rear seat with a screwdriver and mallet and now I've been grinding the panels down with a wire wheel to paint and I have also redone the seam-seal.

Once I finish with the panels, a buddy of mine has a good deal on imitation dynamat called "Hushmat" apparently the stuff is about as good and whereas with my Best Buy discount I can pick up 36 square feet of Dynamat for $100 and so bucks while having to wait 4 weeks to get it, or, for $120 I can pick up 58 square feet of Hushmat!!!
Here's a link to the kit I'll be putting in: Hushmat ULTRA BULK KIT 10501 (Silver)
finished pictures coming soon!
Feel free to comment and if you have any insight on CarPC's in DSM's let me know!
