Ottawa,
Hey everyone, with the beautiful weather we are getting this weekend up in Canada, I decided it would be the perfect time to do a little work on my project (1ga). :D
Anyways, I'm currently in the process of removing the rear seats and seat belts, and although I got most of it out without a problem, there's a few areas I could use some help with if anyone has done this before on the board.

This first picture shows the rear seat belt retractor. I'm trying to remove this, but it seems that I first must remove the plastic panel around it. Normally not a big deal, but the part that normally covers this retractor (which you can barely see dangling with the end of the seat belt) blocks it from coming off, and the panel doesn't want to get around the retractor itself. Does anyone know if there is a way to get this retractor out without removing the panel, or are there any tricks to getting the panel itself around it?

And secondly,

http://www.mreah.com/Images/Floor_Plug.jpg

This is a plug and wiring that was underneath the rear seat. It was attached to the metal piece that has the seat belt plugs. I'm not sure *exactly* what it's for, but since I'm obviously not going to be having any rear seats (and the plug from the wires to the larger section will not seem to come loose) can I just cut the wires and plug the hole they come through, or will this cause problems? Anymore information anyone can provide on these wires and plug would be really helpful.

Thanks everyone,
-Steve

I'm not really sure what you are asking in the first part  I took out my rear seatbelts and whatnot and didnt run into a problem, maybe a better picture/more explanation as to what is getting caught up? As far as the wire, I left that in b/c I am going to be building a box over the top, and I will never see it.

Thanks Kyle, I got the retractor out. It was just a little tricky getting the plastic cover that surrounded it off. Anyways, I'm doing the same thing (building a box where the seats were), so I'll probably leave the sensor/plug as well. I'm told that it might actually be an ABS sensor (even though it seems weird). Does your car have ABS?

Old thread I know... but is there an abs sensor in the back for a 1g? I removed the belt retractor, seats and seat latch mechanism. Just want to make sure i'm not going to have any problems, since I have ABS...
