Rear-end locking and noises

Hey guys, I am looking at buying another 92 laser AWD (YAY!! BOUT TIME!). The guy says that he was driving down the interstate on the home then suddenly it sounded like he blew out a rear tire so he pulls over and nope they are fine. so he keeps driving and the noise keeps up. he said when he pushes in the clutch it feels like he is applying breaks and when he goes around corners the wheel tries to lock up. (if he turns left the rear left tire if right the rear right tire) I am trying to figure it out so i know how much money i gotta put into this thing? any ideas what it could be? diff? brakes? thanks ahead of time!

I would have to say it sounds like the spiders gears are blown in the rear diff. This would cause the locking up of the tires trying to turn a corner and the binding when you press in the clutch. Also when they blow it makes an awfull noise(most of the time). Just my .02 but if it is cheap enough grab it and throw another rear diff at it from the junkyard.

Is there a rebuild kit for the differential?

ok i picked the car up today.. the car is fine at low speeds ie. under 20 mph. After that is starts making a thumping noise. and feels like its dragging on the car. anyone else have an idea?

Someone told me that it could be my center differential. Could that be possible? It doesnt make the noise at low speeds and only the rear tires lock up around turns.
