Well my exhaust is pretty short and the muffler came up right under my rear bumper and actually started to melt the paint and the bumper itself. I looked at the expensive bumper shields that some evos and what not have, but I decided to do a custom job, and I think it turned out ok. We just took a jig-saw and cut a whole out, sanded it down with a dremmel and sandpaper, and put some black stripping that people put on the doors and stuff to avoid dings. It took about ten minutes and cost about $35 for the saw an the stripping. Let me know what you think.

Well thanks a lot for the positive replies everyone, I was pretty satisfied with how it came out, it doesn't really look out of place, it just looks right I guess haha.

Just be careful that the new trim bits don't get hot and melt all the same.

I think the torching happens cause the Tailpipe doesn't stick OUT enough. My tip sticks out past my bumper like 4 inches. I have Noticed the Tips that DO NOT stick out tend to have the burnt bumper :(

So if you are still having a problem down the road try mounting the exhaust so it comes out a lil more. Or cut off your tip and put on a longer one!

Anyhow the Mod you have done looks great! Hope it works for ya!

My bumper was melting because my exhaust tip didn't come out far enough, like jeff said.

Wow looks good. My Talon has a similar issue with the stock exhaust. NOT melting it but turning the white paint black. I'm think of taking some stainless steel that I can get from work and making a panel to go over the bumper where it keeps turning black. . .
