Rear balance shaft plug

I need to know how to remove the castlated nut that goes over the rear balance shaft seal. I know I can get a special tool but anyting else?

VFAQ says you can use a flathead screwdriver and tap it from the side...Repeatedly.
Why are you taking this off? Are you doing a B-Shaft removal? If so you can still perform this mod without removing the plug at all.

Im putting a new case on and it didnt come with one, so i am reusing the old one. I found the mitsu "special tool" that mitsu no longer sells, available through SPX/Miller. THanks for the info.

put the old front case in a vice use a flat head screw driver and a hammer it takes all of 1min to do.. also a pair of ring pliers works well for setting your tensioner..
