So I've been having an issue lately with my rear driver side axle coming out of the differential and leaking fluid all over. I put the axle back in and it comes out no matter what. I've replaced the retaining circlip, struts, suspension bushings, and diff seal and it still comes out. Somebody please shed some light on this situation to me. What could be causing this?

Like always, any input is greatly appreciated.

Also, does anybody know the length for an OEM axle? I measured mine in fear of possibly having the wrong axle in there and I cannot find the specs of the OEM axle.

I haven't considered the carrier bearing at all, I'll look into that.

And aren't both rear axles for AWD the same length? I thought only the front ones were different lengths? As for the inside of the differential, the splines looked fine last time I took some pictures. The end of the axle that goes into the diff has a little bit of damage to the ends of some splines, but I'm not sure that little damage could make the whole thing pop out? And why would it?

If its an LSD rear, you cant put em in backwards cause the longer side wont come close to going into the short side all the way. Sounds to me that youre not getting it locked into the diff all the way. If the dust shield on the axle isnt flush with the diff housing, youre not in all the way. Try removing the outboard side and ramming the axle into the diff, then reinstall the outboard side of the axle into the hub, its much easier this way.

It sounds like the damage to the axle splines could be your problem. If it is not fully inserted into the differential it WILL pop out.

How long have you had the car? Did you or a previouse owner swap the rear diff? Reason I'm saying is , bfh is a limited slip diff for a 5spd awd car. If for some reason you or some one else never put the correct diff cups in then the axels or axel won't stay in place becuse the c clips are not engaging.. The driver side diff cup is longer than the pass.

The axle is definitely was in all the way and flush with the diff and still popped out. I'm positive about this.

And I got the car in may and I know that the car was apart and Im pretty sure the axles were out. If I did have the wrong cups on there, wouldn't I have had this problem a lot sooner than about a month ago? What is actually in the diff that the circlip retains to?

Btw its a non LSD so I don't know if this makes a difference in cup length.
