Yeah i just got a new dsm, it has a decent system in it, but apprently the face plate of the radio was stolen, so pretty much its useless, can you buy new face plates? i looked around but couldent really find what i was looking for.

My cars not at my house at the moment so i'm not sure what brand / model it is, but im asking the general question if you can normally buy the face plates after the've been stolen.

Or, did the person you bought the car from steal the radio without the faceplate and put it in his car, hoping he could find a replacement some other time. Because why would someone just steal a faceplate but not the whole radio?
But I don't think they just sell the faceplates. Because people can steal the radio and buy the faceplate from the manufacturer? Doesn't make sense, not so 'anti-theft' afterall.

You can buy a replacement faceplate for any stereo. You have 2 options. First, go to the manufacturers website and they'll usually have a section for OEM replacement parts. A replacement face from the manufacturer will run you about $50 or $60. Or you can check on ebay as stated earlier. That's how I got a faceplate for one of my previous stereos. I think I payed $20 with shipping for the plate. It's mostly luck when looking on ebay. One week there may be one there, the next week, none. Check there first, though, because you'll save a bunch of money.

Honestly I really dont know why they decided to switch over to all removable faceplates. If you dont take it with you, someone can just pop em out in two seconds. Luckily our cars have ISO mounts. A lot of these cars with cage mounts I can literally take out the whole radio, disconnect all the harnesses and have your whole radio in 10 seconds.

When you start working in car installation shops, you really realize how vulnerable cars are....Like starting up a car, rip up the lower dash and connect a few wires, no problem. OF course you wouldnt know what color, but if you just looked it up online it takes two seconds...

Buddy of mine lost or left his faceplate somewhere he doesnt remmber what happened to it .. anyways quick search on ebay and found one .... try ebay
