So recently I did a 6 bolt swap. It's a JDM 4g63 out of a galant vr4. Well in galants the radiator cap is on the radiator and the water neck has no cap. The radiator out of my galant is toast and I have an aluminum one I use in my 2g. Well with this setup I have no place for a radiator cap. Will I be fine without a cap? Can I just fill the coolant by pouring it in the radiator hose itself? I'm not sure what to do here.

No you will not be fine with out it. The car needs the radiator cap an over flow tank to relieve pressure in the system when the car is warmed up and then when it cools down.

Ever notice the level in the coolant overflow is higher when the car is warmed up than when it is cold? The system needs a place to store the extra fluid when it expands.

^ Yes. You need a radiator cap to regulate pressure within the cooling system. Plus, the system should be completely full and free of air, which you wouldn't be able to do without a cap.

You need to find a water neck with a cap, usually from a 1g. Look in the classifieds or even junk yards.

Can I just swap the top water neck from the one on my 7 bolt?
