It is one thing to add stupid little lights that are illegal, but it is another to remove a safety option that could potentially save your life.

You do realize that if you do get into an accident and the insurance company finds out what you did, you could be screwd. What if you hit your head on the steering wheel? Do you think it is possible that insurance will not cover your head injuries because you had the bright idea of removing the airbag?

Looks like the gene pool needs skimming again

Like I said SEATBELTS. If you arent wearing them yes you will crack your head against the steering wheel now if you were wearing your seat belts and you crack your head and you live to tell about it you will be a very rich person cause not only will you have a lawsuit either against Mitsubishi or the manufacturer of the seatbelt.

And regardless of the fact that you change your bulb to something that is illegal it is still illegal regardless of the fact of the level of it its still doesnt make it legal. You are comparing robbing something out of someones house verusus murder, no matter how you slice the 2 things its still in no way right. So if you are saying that it is ok to put illegal bulbs on you are going against everything you are preaching about. Like I said I do not disagree with the whole airbag thing being illegal to remove, I am with that 100% but like I said it is not the only thing in the car that can save your life.

First and formost it is your seatbelt that will keep you where you are.

Say if your car rolls over I dont think that the airbag in the steering wheel, no matter the situation will prevent you from flying out the windshield or from you flying up and hitting your head against the roof of your car. You have to agree with me on that.

So if you remove your seat belts I will feel the same way that you are feeling towards the whole airbag thing, because seat belts are your first line of safety.

NASCAR, Drag cars, D1 Drifter, road rallies. You notice that they do not remove there seat belts, but no airbags are present in those cars, like i said that they make up for it un other ways with the roll cage and helmets, but if airbags were so vital then they would have them in their cars as well. As well as older cars on the road, you dont see them having to equip there cars with airbags.

I am going to leave off at that. I am not going to comment on this steering wheel airbag issue. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and no one can change there minds about it. I cant change your mind on the issue and you cant change mine. So let us leave it at that.

Lets atleast agree on this:

Airbags are illegal to remove from a car
-but-
airbags will not keep you from flying out of your windshield; seat belts are first and foremost the life saver.

So new knowledge is learned and traded

I am only agreeing for the sake of argument I am not the original poster of that comment you have to look more up and see who that person that was.

i love the excuses and reasons people come up with as to why their rice isnt rice and is needed.

cracks me up everytime. rock on tallen.

Ok heres an idea, I asked about installing a steering wheel... I don't give a flying #### about if its ricey or if it's safe... I think thats for me to decide... if you don't have something to say about the actual question then I don't give a shit and maybe you should just go away.

For all the RICEcist... I guess you all can try and pursuade a mustang or camaro owners that your ride isn't rice.... the very car itself is rice like it or not, don't like it then just trade your ride in for a stang so we can have more victims out there. So... get over it.

No prob, just trying to lend some support to fellow dsmer's (I know that isnt a word for people that will most likely give me a hard time about it so I will clear the air, I made the word up). Anyway looks great I like the steering wheel I will try take some pictures of mine and I will post as well.

I don't have an air bag on my car, but I sure wish I did. When you drive a DSM chances are if you get into the crash it will be pretty bad!!! Plus if you driving a N/T wtf? y do you need a ricer wheel? Save yourself the pain and just stay alive!!!

great way to clean up the genepool boddy,
you will leave an imprint on that whel if you hit something with the front of your car...but it think that might be a positive thing in the big scheme of things (darwinism works).

You know what, you should remove your bumper supports also, i mean for a 130hp car you need as much weightsaving as possible...

Doesn't anaybody here wear seatbelts that they have to rely on the airbags for protection. Well, what if you get T-boned, I'm sure those bags will help a lot... And why mod and have 400+ hp car that'll surely be safety risk cuz you'll most likely be driving fast and tampering with some sort of motor vehicle code which is also illegal. Folks, there's a lot what ifs in life and you always have to balance things, do tradeoffs and make calculated sacrifices. The same thing goes for engine mods, I'm sure a lot of people here are modding their engine without following up with suspension, tires, brakes and most importantly driving skills to match, I know I've been to a few meets already and have seen it first hand. SO, save the lectures and arguments and keep this thread informative. Include advices or safety suggestions in the end withoug bashing and avoid having these thread turn into a shouting match.

Reviving an old thread.....

:D

What are the steering wheels that work on a 2G? I plan on getting rid of that Mike Tyson sitting there infront of me at some point and have read so far that Momo and Sparco hubs will work. Can I use these adapters with another brand of wheels ( APC or Grant )?

And I rely on my driving skills and the seatbelt to protect me, not the SRS ( **Secondary** restraint system ). :thumb:

groomz:

To answer your questions the steering wheel hub will work with any steering wheel as long as the bolt pattern of the steering wheel matches that of the hubs.

sparco and momo use a 6 bolt pattern 3 on top half and 3 on the bottom half.

hope your quest for your steering wheel ends in a good one.

thanks

back to the airbag thing- I removed my clockspring. the hub wouldn't fit without taking it out.
Also, I'd rather not have the airbag. If I am in a bad enough accident where the airbag would be the only way to save my life, chances are high that I'm dead anyway. Plus the car is a lot easier to control. Momo trek owns! :thumb:

I have been in 2 wrecks both of which in a car that came stock without airbags... both wrecks totalled the car... (same car i know it's ghetto) I have never even gotten close to hitting the steering wheel... NOT ONCE... I hit a suburban at 60 when he swerved out infront of me 60 MILES AN HOUR and since i was wearing my seatbelt I was just fine... So the next time people decide to say that airbags are essential... think again

Honestly I think airbags are pointless. For one, my buddy had an airbag MX-3 and he smashed into a ford escort at about 45mph, the airbag never went off. And it was head on, the front of the car was completely screwed! Another one, I had a Ford Mustang old 88 and it was an offroad rally type car. I messed that thing up badly, I hit more things then I can remember with it, and the airbag never went off. What good is an airbag when it never wants to go off? And when it does your already stopped. Personally the airbag is stupid. I;ve see in many cases in accidents that people have broken noses and stuff because the airbag hit them at 100mph or how ever fast those things fly at your face. Just think about it. Your going this way -> and airbag punches you in the face <- this way. Hmmm.... Personally I don't plan on getting in an accident and if I do. and it requires an airbag then GOOD I die! Who cares? I don't think any of you will.... just my opinion on airbags.

AIRBAG saved my friends mom when she put her galant into the highway barrier at around 65. The car was totally ####ed, and all that happened to her was a big sretch on the hand
