Son has an 01 Eclipse GT.
Recently had harmonic balancer replaced under warranty. (Ring came off while in driveway along with belt) Prior to arriving home, son said engine was racing...taching up with no power. Drove it back to dealership myself today for that reason.
Don't know how it could be anything but the clutch after driving it to dealership myself today, but it's strange that it wasn't acting up until the balancer problem. You have to give it plenty of gas after leaving out on clutch just to get it to grab and go. It does this with every gear change. While driving it will "race" rather than go when getting into the gas. Down shifting feels fine for whatever reason and there's no difficulty getting the thing into any gear.
Is it possible that there's anything else going on, other than it needs a new clutch?
