Quicker Spool Up with External Wg

The reason I'm asking this because I'm running a td06-20g 7cm with internal wg. Seems like boosts takes forever to build (around 4k rpm). With no cats and full 3" exhaust, I think the exhaust is flowing too well with no back pressure.

your complaining about 4k spool up?? most 20G turbos wait till about 4.5K or so. Its a big turbo.... are you not happy with the fact that once you get to 4K you rocket away???

my old BR20g hit 20psi by 3500 rpms... My AGP is a little laggier & I get 20 psi by 3700 rpms. I don't know anyone w/ a 20g that has to wait till 4500 to get full boost. Hell my buddy has a red on his car & he gets full boost by 4000 rpm. All of these are with an external gate though.

My turbo gives me 20-25 psi by 3500 rpm, on both the internal and external gates. I imagine any typical 7cm/TDO6 (turbine wheel) turbo should be in that ballpark. Someone I know with a red gets 20 psi by 3700..

So any difference in lag, et, mph?

Actually I'm going to test out the my project actuator with an air compressor before installing to the turbo.

I have a 40mm flapper and it's too big on my 20G.. the turbine pressure is higher than 16g. With a mitsu actuator it will only hold 11 PSI. Try to turn up the boost to 14 PSI for example and it will drop to 12 by redline. No, not boost leak.. try to shim it and then it creeps to 16. It's this --> <-- fine line between creep and reverse creep! I cannot seem to get my turbo to hold the elusive 14 PSI to redline.

Start with a smaller flapper and stronger actuator and it will probably work. But, I really don't want to mess with it anymore.. external with swappable springs is the way to go.

Adding a spring with somewhat work but you never know what PSI it will open until you attach it, that's why I think a hook setup will be better instead of welding the spring onto the gate
