Was buttoning up a few things in my engine bay and went to connect my turbo coolant feed line, when I noticed that there were two large nipples on my thermostat housing, one of which doesn't exist on my friend's 90 talon tsi( the lower one). Question is, which one of these should I use to direct coolant to my turbo, and which one should I block off?

are you talking about the ones for vacuum lines ? or the ones for coolant lines ?

One of the coolant nipples runs to the t/b. Your friends 90 has a oil cooler for the turbo.

So, is it safe to say that he can just feed that back into the system? I got an extra nipple on my thermostat housing.

Coolant lines on the thermostat housing can go to various places and can be interchanged. After all, it's just coolant. As long as the system is close looped (it doesn't leak) You can route your coolant lines to wherever you want.

An example is that there are two coolant lines that go to the bottom of the throttle body. One coolant line comes from the waterpipe and the other from the thermo housing. If you choose not to run coolant lines to the TB, you can eliminate all the jazz and just plug the hole from the thermo housing right into the hole on the water pipe.

The one that is not on your friens talon goes to the oil cooler. On the 90 model, it used an air oil cooler and 91 up models used a coolant type oil cooler. The extra nipple is where the cooler would get water from and it would be returned back into the bottom of the hardpipe.
