Quick Question- Rubber Ring on Turbo

Just curious, I bought the Dejob Intake and well, the coupler to the turbo basically is a hack and not the best connection. The 14b is too small for their little rubber piece.

I am planning on putting a silicone reducer coupler but I was curious, do I HAVE to use the rubber ring from the stock intake snorkle? I did some searches and it seems as though some use it, some don't.

Is there a definitive answer as to why a correct ID coupler wouldn't work?

I used it on mine however I got the ebay injen style intake. The coupler I got was too big (by about 1/4") so I had to use the stock rubber ring to hold my coupler on to the turbo.

If you get the right size couple you dont need it. Its only there because the harder rubber on the stock snorkle wont make a good seel.

I ran into the same thing with my Big T28. I just out it on with the rubber rings. I didn't like it. The intake kept walking itself off. I got an Injen intake instead.

For the 14b and the 2.75 Dejon intake, I got the 2.75-2 silicone reducer and it works awesome! (without the ring).
