Quick introduction for me and my project

First off my name is John, my project 1990 Talon TSI AWD. I’ve wanted a 1G Talon since a buddy of mine knew a guy with a drag build, he showed me one day and that was that I was hooked. I wanted my build to be more on the side of a daily driver, however I soon found out that a build/project and a daily are MUCH different and I wanted to build.

I was gifted a 1G (the above 1990) that my Moms boyfriend didn't want to put the time into anymore, fine with me I got this. She ran well, drove fine and lasted with some maintenance for about 2 years. Nothing major broke but I ran into an issue with what I believe was fuel related.

I’m planning on making my first post (after the introduction) about this issue. I’ve been researching threads here, Facebook groups, etc and never seem to find exactly what I have going on. She‘ll get there. I’m positive and I love my 1G, I’ll keep her until it’s my time even as a lawn ornament. I’m glad to be here!

Long time lurker I see. Welcome. If you haven't already read some of the usual guides, upgrade paths etc I encourage a look at the resources page

Very long time, I’ve been making sure to go through threads and searching the issues I have before really getting into posting. I want to stay away from “it’s in the threads go look” comments. I’ve made sure to download the PDFs I’ve found, FSM, all the original information that is available.

Now divorced, time to take a deep dive into the DSM world. Would love a project with my kids once their a little older. I also made sure to go through all the maintenance guides from the basic maintenance through the staged upgrades. There is so much information here, it’s an amazing resource.

Thanks for the welcome, good to be more of a part of this now!

You’ve likely also found vfaq.com, but if not, a very handy and concise body of info, especially 1g. 90’s have some quirks, but overall these cars have impressive engineering. My other tip is read the classifieds every day if you can. Rare parts come up, and then it might be a year before another one.
Keep us informed on your project. It can be inspirational to others: great way to share the fun.
