Quick BOV question.....

Hey guys i have a 1st gen. blow off valve on my 2nd gen. eclipse GS-T....my car will boost up to about 18 psi at WOT but than immediately drop down to about 14-15 psi and it will hold 14-15 psi all the way throughout the rest of the RPMs....just to let everyone know, i do have the supporting mods so that my car should be able to run 18 psi without a problem....could this be because the BOV is leaking because it is NOT crushed? i'm actually having the BOV crushed tomorrow....one other question is will the BOV sound any different once it is crushed, compared to the sound it makes now? Thanks for all the help, any information is appreciated!
 
Mine does the same... its boost spike. Sometimes mine will actually jump past 20, little scary. The exhaust sounds like it spittin like crazy. I gotta fix this problem.

That's got nothing to do with the original poster. He isn't spiking. His car is modded and turbo is set to run 18 pounds of boost. Once it hits 18 pounds it will drop off and level at about 14-15 psi.

I agree it's just your T-25. They're relatively small turbo's not meant to handle large amounts of boost. At levels that high they just run out of breath.

Where in this post do you see him saying he has it SET AT 18psi??? he said at WOT it hits 18 then IMMEDIATLY drops to 14-15. Mine does exactly this, b/c stock boost with the restrictor out is 14-15.

also he doesnt mention a MBC nor does his profile.. with that info Im saying stock boost setting
 
You're right I assumed it was set at it. The way his question is asked he's asking why it's dropping to 14 or 15 leading readers to believe it's set higher than that.

As for his profile it's not something to pay much attention to for this post. Post claims 1g bov, profile says ssqv.

Yeah when I saw that I just assumed he hasnt updated his profile recently. I see how you thought he meant it dropped at higher RPMs
 
We need more information about the parts you have on your car. For example, if we suggested boost spike, we need to know if you have an MBC, what type, how it's connected. That leads to boost source, turbo type, if you have a J-pipe, ect. Remember, vague question = vague diagnosis.
 
im so sorry guys....i completely forgot that my profile is still set up with all the info. on my old car....i now have the same exact car but its just a different one with different parts.....still a 97 GS-T but it has different parts...i do have a 17 psi wastegate and a manual boost controller so the car is set to boost 17 psi...well this is what i was told by the kid who i got the car off of
