Is the regulator that controls the alternators output in the alternator itself, or is it located in the ECU?
Reason why I ask is because this is my 2nd alternator in less than 3 months. When my original alternator blew, I ran the car home on just the battery. And when we bolted up the "reman" alternator we didnt charge the battery up. So we started it up, and the alternator got very hot (you couldnt even touch it). And we smelled a "candy smell" in the air. very strange... it smelled like jolly ranchers... did we burn some wires?
