Well im new to the forums here, I just got a rather undriven 98 GS and planing on new valves and turbo and all that fun stuff but I leave for the Corp in a month and just want to get as close to 200Hp as possible w/o nitous, I have CAI and B&M short shifter planed on

Greedy SS headers
AEM cams and pulleys
(engine managment system) is venom any good for the price or is there better?

need feedback, is there a cheaper route with more power? or better options,

Thanks everybody

I don't know what everybody will say to this, but I am not in favor of headers or CAI's that are name brand. I have an ebay header and an ebay CAI, its the same as my friends Greddy header and Injen intake, but mine only costed 200 for both. He paid more on just the intake. AEM makes good cams and gears. I'm getting Crane Cams and Gears, but I know people that use Crane products. As for EMS, don't get that stupid Venom 400 unit. Its a POS. Apex S-AFC is a good tuning instrament. Helps more on a turbo car, but I have it on my NT, and its great. A really good boost in power is porting your Intake Manifold and getting a 60mm Modern Performance Thottle Body. I just finished those, and I couldn't believe how much power it added. I ported the runners and matched the Manifold to the TB, as well as gasket matching the rest of the manifold. Also try a Underdrive crank pulley. Those are nice. With everything I've listed you "should" get to 200whp. Just make sure you tune everything right. Good luck.

if you plan on going turbo then dont waste your time doing any na mods aside from what you already did. you will have to replace most of them anyway. the few that would be useful once you do boost are an safc, udp, cam gears, 60mm tb and port matched intake mani, test pipe. you will have to replace the intake and header in favor of intercooler piping and the turbo/exhaust manifold should you decide to boost :dsm:

you can get a 2.5" cat-back, test pipe, p&p intake manifold, bigger tb, cam gears, afc (both cam gears & afc need to be tuned, set cam gears at 0 n do not tune afc until you get turbo because if you dyno tune now, then turbo you will need to dyno tune later again), a nasty set of cams, a head port (jayden1 has a nasty head port if he boosts at 8psi it spools so much harder that it actually measures at 12 or something like that, he has a friend who does port work by the way)

If you want to be able to handle more boost you can always go forged internals.

do not invest in a 2.5" catback unless you dont plan on raising the boost too high. once you get over 10psi, there will be too much restriction on the exhaust flow and you will wish that you would have waited and gotten a 3" catback instead :dsm:

dont get a 3 inch before you get a turbo, it will kill your low end.

sorry was on a plane the last couple of days, I already purchased the headers gottem for 200 flat so oh well I guest, I was looking at that S-AFC next, and anything to help my low end cause I already have a 3 inch ex, I was also planning on getting the gude package of valves, bigger TB, and manifold, and I think a couple other things, any good?

If you plan on going turbo but do not plan on forged internals (hence you will never boost past ~10 psi) imo this is what you should "prep" your car with:

2.5" Cat Back (even some ppl w/ a gst or gsx don't go complete 3" as some think it is overkill, it all depedns on your goals. If you are looking for ~250 whp a 2.5" should suite your purpose just fine, same goes for the cat)
2.5" Hi-Flow Straight thru cat
Cam Gears
Cams
Under drive Pulley
Walbro Fuel pump
AFC
P&P your Intake Manifold
bigger tb (60mm, although you will lose some power now, later on when you do go turbo it will be best)
A Head Job (3 or 5 angle valve job, intake and exhaust ports bored, basically get a turbo port, speak with jayden1 on this site, he has a friend who did his port and he boosts 8psi but it feels like if its boostin 12)
A performance clutch

Do not waste time on a header, but i see you already purchased one. Also a cai will NOT help on your turbo as your going to have to take it out.

thats a lot of stuff, and a lot of money, to "prep" your car. since you already have an exaust, i would just get the turbo kit first, then start upgrading the rest of it, in the order that it is needed most. thats just what i would do tho
