Hi,
within month or so...will be building my own 3"custom Exhaust system..O2housing-Back.
will make from just mild steel..:|

My question is to weight..howmuch weight your complete..Downpipe+Cat-back...Apexi N1 or some performance SS exhaust?

And to Muffler...
Is really needed:cool: What about make exhaust without muffler?I know-deeper tone.but No restriction!???
Iam seriously in building my DSM!!..it is just question.
OR.... Iam thinking to make Duall sound...Two mufflers like 300zx..since got turbo engine, there isn´t any issue with backpressure..less restrictive-better...but there is more weight:coy: , BTW looks pretty good with Bomex rear bumper:thumb: !My opinion.
Any suggestion?
THX

If you are going to build an exhaust, put a muffler on it. If you want more flow, unbolt the downpipe and call it a day.

Ohh, and "dual'd" DSM's are ghey. So is the idea of backpressure and performance being related.

Well, so are bomex rear bumpers for that matter.

And I don't even know what that's supposed to mean.

Geez, and we wonder why Europeans think we're jerks??

To answer the poster's question regarding weights...I estimate (I haven't actually weighed it since it's on the car) that my Apexi N1 downpipe and exhaust together weighs between 20 and 22 kilos. I'd expect the 2G setup to be similar in weight. Not exactly the lightest, but the quality tubing and thick flanges make up for it.

Because they have preconcieved notions about people they don't know anything about?

20 kilos =aprox.= 44lbs. Seems a bit heavy to me. Honestly I've never held the whole exhuast in my hand at once, but judging by the down pipe I've got in the garage, I'd guess less. maybe 25lbs or so.

my 1g 2.5 dp 3 inch cat and midpipe then dual 2.5 with fartcans is heavy as hell.

BTW dual'd dsm's look good if its done right.

Take a look at the SRT-4 exhaust. I am waiting until one these rich punk kids totals one and its in the junkyard so I can rip off the dual exhaust. Its a 2.5" pipe to the back, then splits right before the bumperinto dual 1.75" pipes with 3" chrome tips. The exhaust is just a downpipe, resonator, cat, resonator, resonator and it sounds mean.

If you want to get dualjust for looks, it would benefit you to split it right before the rear bumper. If you wantfor performance, split it after the downpipe. If you want halfway, split it after the cat. Its all about waht you want, and dont let people like saiyansniper tell you its ghey.

hey,
was just a question...And if you Americans mean duall d" is not performance...it is your way..For me is weight No. 1! Iam going to single...
For those who look on Show...Dualls are pretty COOL...espicially with Bomex bumper:p

I just replaced my exhaust from the O2 housing back. The stock exhaust really didnt seem like it weighed that much, I estimate 25-30 Lbs. I had a complete custom 3" O2 back exhaust with a high flow cat and magnaflow muffler that weighed more than the stock, roughly 10 pounds more.
