Newbie here. What is the whole Bolt thing. Also can I use a non-turbo transmission with a turbo 4g63 motor. I want to put a turbo motor in a non turbo talon. Will the stock non turbo transmission work?

Thanks

Im pretty sure the stock tranny will work with the turbo engine, the only difference is the size of the clutch and flywheel, plus the n/t tranny has a higher gearing, but if you do this you might want to get a stronger clutch because the engine will tear that clutch up due to a lot more hp.

When they re-vamped the engine design, they made some of the bottom-end lighter, and added another bolt to the end of the crankshaft to hold on the flywheel. So, six-bolt was superceded by the seven-bolt, and it's the primary visual difference in looking the engines over casually. Failure of the crank thrust bearing became an issue in the newer engine, and has made the early six-bolt The Thing To Have (Among The Superstitious).

Other riveting trivia: my Datsun roadster uses twelve Allen-head bolts on the crank.

Keep browsing here, you'll hear enough about six-bolts, seven-bolts, and crankwalk to make you puke.
