I'm wanting to know would it be alright to go ahead and put the Crane Turbo cams with out any mods except for the intake, exhauset, and udp. In the future i'm going turbo with a full rebuild of the engine. I'm just wanting some extra HP until then.

Yes, I can speak from experience with that, you will be %100 fine to do that.

I put my turbo cams in for my motor swap and ran the car non-turbo for about a year and a half.

It may hinder the performance a bit, but you should be A OK. I didn't have any problems whatsoever with mine.

Now that I'm boosted, I really like the results of my head rebuild..

This is B1itzeclips- I'm on my buddy's username.

Hinder as in the cams weren't designed for a non-turbo application. Therefore, the lobes offset aren't designed to utilize airflow for a naturally aspirated motor. Once you add a turbo in the mix, it changes the air flow properties, therefore defaulting the cams for their intended application : TURBO. :thumb:

So will there be no HP gain by going ahead and installing them without the turbo?

There might be. The only way to know for sure, and Blitz knows this, is to dyno before and after. However, if you're wanting to boost the car, don't get the cams first. You can do a lot with a boosted 2GNT before you ever want to consider cams. Seriously.

When you think about how you can put together a DIY turbosystem for under $1500 these days, why spend $400 on cams? If I remember correctly, HRC will sell you their S16g and manifold for something like $600. Those are the most expensive parts of a turbosystem. Just a thought for you...

I found that one post were that guy pieced together his own for like $1200 and i've read alot of people upgrade alot of stuff on the HRC stage II anyways. Ok you talked me into it. I'm going to build me a turbo kit. So if you have any suggestion on what parts to buy and maybe a list of everything I need to build my own turbo kit. Would help out alot. And I know search and you will find. And i am going to be searching. But you could throw me a crumb here and there to help me out. And if you have the stage II and upgraded stuff on it let me know what you upgraded to. Thanks for any help you leave me.
