Question on cheap o2 sensor fix

I am in the process of turboing my rs and now I have a bad rear o2 sensor. I think that I have a short in it because sometimes the cel comes on and sometimes is doesn't, so I was thinking instead of buying one for 100 bucks I thought about maybe just splicing the wire and soldering it to the o2 sensor before the cat. Would it work? Just wondering so I can spend the 100 on something else for the turbo conversion.

Why not do the O2 elimination?

in my backup car (96 galant) in had an intermitten cel for the rear o2...turned out that the cat was going out. replaced cat and no more light.
