Ok i am going to be installing a o2 mounted wastegate on my evo3 and i was told that i will have to remove the fan in front of my o2 housing in order for the wastegate to fit, is this true and if so what does that fan do and is it ok to run the car without it. thanks -brandon-

that is basically the AC fan.
if you have AC, get a slimline fan to replace it before you go frigid

in 2 previous cars, my current car, and my buddies car, all drove perfect without the AC fan,

If and when you step up to a FMIC you will probably find that a single fan is not enough to cool the car at low speeds and while sitting. The stock temp guage is none too accurate, mine reads the same at 196 as it does at 226, just about in the middle. My wastegate is mounted on the manifold and I run the highest rated SPAL 12" from RRE. It's pretty thick next to the O2 housing though, you won't really know until you get the setup in and take some measurements.

Another route you can take (Depending on how far your going with your car. I cant tell since your Vehicle Profile is blank) is to completely remove your AC system, since your already there. It'll remove 40lbs from your vehicle and remove a belt.

Well I already have the apexi fmic and i was planningon removing the ac anyway because i will probably only drive the car once a week to car club meetings, if iremove the ac do i remove that thing in front of my radiator that looks just like a radiator, thanks for all the help

Underneath the radiator, you should see a little piece a clear tubing hanging down, this is to drain the coolant. The little plastic tubing is maybe like 4" long or so, were it hits the radiator, there is a little plastic knob, turn that to drain the coolant. Also, first make sure that you take off the radiator cap so it will drain quicker.

Oh, well, luckily for me when I pulled mine, the system was bone dry and there wasn't even any refrigerant left. So, I'm not sure how to drain it. I think technically you're supposed to discharge it into an EPA-approved container at a shop or something, but I really dunno. What I do know is that to the right side of the engine bay, there is aluminum line coming from the condensor, you'll see where there is a little plastic cap on it, and if you pull the cap, you'll see where you can recharge the system, a tiny little pin, almost looks like the end of a co2 bottle or something, I know that if you press that little pin down it will relieve pressure. Have I done this with a fully charged a/c system, no, and I can't say whether or not it's a good idea to do with the proper tool/container, I dunno, whatever is used.

You should go to a shop and have them drain it. Only certified places are supposed to do that because of reason I don't know. I'm sure they won't charge you barely anything for just draining the system.

Well, that's because the refrigerant is really toxic. Actually, R-12 is very poisonous if near an open flame. One breath of vapors formed by burning refrigerant can be fatal. So, I really don't suggest try to get rid of it yourself.

haha I was at a guys house once and he was trying to drop his motor in the car, and dropped it on the coolant line and it started spewing out bigtime... i ducked an ran and he called me a Pu$$y haha.
