Which side blows the AC and which side keeps the engine cool? Cause with the AC on only one of my fans goes on which is the drivers side. My AC doesnt work so im thinking its the passenger side but am just trying to clarify. I'll delete this once it gets answered.

ac= drivers side
"engine"=passenger side

Theres a table in the service manual stating the conditions for which each fan comes on and what intensity.

In general the pass. side comes on when collant reaches a certain temperature. AC fan comes on when the A/c switch is turned on, regardless of the actual compressor being on or not.

Is your AC not blowing cold? turn on your AC and look at your compressor and see if the comressor clutch is engaging. If its not engaging you could be low on freon. Or your freon might be fine and your pressure switch is faulty.

To ping in on what GSLENK said. The compressor fan will kick on when your condenser reached a certain temp. If the refrigerant temps get to hot from compression then It wont cool properly in your evaporator core.

Alright so if thats the case, will the passengers side fan only come on when it senses a certain high temperature? And yes my AC is just not blowing cold air, after checking to see that the fan actually comes on i was gonna refill the refrigerant.

The low speed on the driver side is for the ac. The high on the driver side, and passenger low and high are for the engine.

++1 Bryanwheat.

The passenger side fan comes on when your temp switch hits a certain temp and closes the connection allowing passenger fan to come on. Once its reached its proper temp it will open the connection and shut the power to that fan. Did you check to see if your compressor clutch is engaging?

The passenger side fan only has one set speed unlike the condenser fan it has a low and high.

On a 2g, both fans have multiple speeds.

Since we got on the topic of AC... are there any negative consequences of trying to recharge the AC system if there is still some left. Im almost positive the refrigerant is empty but am just curious cause i dont want to make anything worse.

IT will be fine, put freon in until the pressure looks good. You might want to add some leak detector to find out where it is leaking from.
