Those are the diagnostic codes i'm getting.

12 airflow sensor
13 air temp sensor
25 barometric pressure sensor

Apparently they are all part of the MAF and according to Haynes:

so if something comes up wrong from that harness which isn't even attached to the MAF how are we supposed to suspect there might be a problem with the MAF? Shouldn't I be probing the MAF? I don't think i'm going to worth about it much yet anyway since even after unplugging it the car still experienced the problem.

And from what I've gathered, the o2 sensor doesn't activate until normal operating temperature so am I correcting in assuming that neither the o2 sensor nor the MAF are causing this start but then die within a minute issue? Thanks

What is the car doing? Or not doing? I'm a bit confused with the problems your experiencing.

Does your car start and die? And those are the codes your getting?

The ECU relies of the MAF to come up with an air/fuel ratio during open loop operation (engine not up to operating temp, WOT) and completely ignores the front 02 sensors feedback

It seems as if the MAF is completely unplugged (or, along those lines) have you checked the area around the ECU for a major hack job, such as a SAFC install gone wrong?

Yeah, it huffs and puffs then croaks. It was a gradual degeneration. I'm sorry to say that my civic with 200k + shows no signs of such problems. Wow, that was the first time I've ever insulted my DSM like that. The truth id though that my civic is absolutely jealous with all the hours I spend on "Eclipse". Eclipse is a sexy deep electric blue with curves in all the right places and the absolute best ass in town. Cab space and fit is perfect and back seats are for DSM parents until children reach 5' because DSM'ers don't drive kids old enough to ride bikes around town on their own around.

No I have not nor have I ever seen an ECU, so I'll throw it on my list of things to check. Thanks

How about a crack in the head cover at the inner bolt hole under the spark plug cover? It's leaking oil up there which can't escape but I wonder if that still could be causing or contributing to my problem(s).

Have you pulled the ECU for inspection? You could have a bad controller or something wrong on the board.

If you know how to do delicate electronics like that I have spare controllers if yours in need. Pay the post mail postage and they are yours. If your not good with electronics then I can fix it for you if there is an issue.

No signs of rodents and no i havent messed with an ECU ever so I'll keep that in mind as I'm checking things. I'm also researching electronics too as I'm diagnosing this because I have a lot to learn to just understand what I'm messing around with here. Still learning about volts and amps and ohms and how to test and understand circuits. I still have yet to reset the codes to make sure I didn't have the MAF unplugged the first time I got codes. Thanks for your responses. Anyway, so a crack in the top of the head cover is not gonna cause my problems? It doesn't need to be to some degree enclosed? Isn't there a vacuum hose that goes into the head or is that the intake mani? Or am I just confused about how these parts work?

I'll double check hopefully later on that the MAF wasn't unplugged. and it want sitting. I had been driving it maybe a few days after I put it back together after replacing the head then the alternator. it always had an idling issue and it just progressed. Now it starts, goes up then down a couple times then dies

Yeah, MAF must have been unplugged. No more codes.

Ha this just rememinded my of an "issue" with a friends GSX we had a few years back. Wes spent a day washing and detailing cars inside and out as we had a drag meet the next day. Cleaning air filters and hoses, pipes and what not. Well we left his filter out to dry over night and proceeded partaking drinks from an array of delicious beverages. Well next morning came, installed filter, started up GSX and it basically did what yours did. We thought the DSM gods came and plagued us, until we realized his MAF was left unpluggedROFL. Good to hear thats all what was wrong with yours. ECU issues suck man.
