I've always wondered why people would go through all the trouble to make their car as light as possible: Race seats, CF body parts, lightweight rims, removing the back seat, ect. and then put in a few subs, amps, and a bunch of smaller speakers inside a box into their car?

I could live with a "not-so-thumping" sound system....then again I'd rather listen to the orgasmic like noise coming from the exhaust (That is if they've upgraded the engine as much as the rest of the car) :p

Your thoughts on the subject?

I don't think you have had your dsm for long.

I like feeling my music, but i just have an amp,sub and 4 speakers, nothing crazy.

I agree that there is nothing nicer than the sound of a motor running and the exhaust screaming. Let's break down your questions to what I would think. Just remember that this is my opinion and people can agree or disagree with me =D

CF parts - Sometimes people just like the look of it or they are going for a theme with their cars. Form, function and looks is something you can get out of CF.

Race seats - IMO the 2G stock seats make you sit a bit too high (Don't know about 1G seats) and Race buckets help you to feel more in touch with the car, they grip you better, plus the floss factor of having nicer seats is a plus too.

Lightweight wheels- Well usually most people change their rims to set themselves apart from the rest. Now as for performance, they are good when you need them and most of the nicer sets of wheels are more expensive as well because of the process used to make them. Or the person got a really great deal. (I got my used Racing Hart C2's for $200 with tires)

Removing the back seat - That I really don't get to be quite honest with you, unless you plan to devote your car to the show scene and fiberglass within that area. I'd personally be too scared to drive my car around with a Fiberglassed rear area because of theft. Also if you are doing it to race, your car is probably beyond being a street legal DSM

A system is usually put into the car because people love their music. Its not really necessary, but more of a want. One example is the difference iof watching an action movie with stock TV speakers vs. having a home theater system.

Now you might say that these same people have great motor mods as well. Going fast is something everyone loves to do, no matter what kind of car you drive. Plus in the show scene, it can grab you a few more points during judging. Even full blown show cars have at least the basic bolt ons.

I do get your theory but its also nice to be able to go fast while having some extra comfort and style. That's why most people buy DSM's IMO. You can take it, build it (with enough money hehe) and run a good time w/o having to gut the car out like a Honda would. Not saying that you can't buy a domestic and do that, but if your in the import scene, you can't find much better than a DSM for dragging while keeping it streetable, especially if you have the patience to build it.

Remember the saying

"Go fast with class!!!!"

I look forward to what others have to say =D

I made my fiber glass speaker box easily removable, along with the amps an capaciter. so on days i wanna take it to the track or jus go a little faster i take it out.

The reason why is in your title. They are "Race worthy STREET cars," meaning they are not track only cars.

i think you have a good setup. nothing dramatic or too much. it saves from adding weight and sounds good too. i always hate it when people put widshield-shattering sound systems (my friend TJ knows what im talking about.....) in their cars, and then wonder why their car is so heavy. but as said before, a good pair of speakers, a small sub and a small amp. thats all you need.:dsm:

A deck and 4 speekers and two tweeters is good enough for me. They all together only probably weigh 20-30lbs at most.
