How hard is it to pull a engine. I found this car for 400 bucks and would think it would be a awesome project. Sadly to say i dont have even 400 bucks......pathetic i know but its really hard to get a job lately at 16. But here's the ad its on our site and others do you guys think its worth it. What do laser's come with at stock set ups a 14b? Now what does it take to fix a car that burns oil. Now when it does that dosent it mean it has bad rings?I dont care about interior it will give my mom something to do now that my bro moved out and she's guna use his room as a soen room. Now i looked at power steering racks and it looked like just the power steering colum. I wouldent mind just pulling the engine putting 2g pistons 1g rods. Balence shaft removal. keeping the 14b if it has one. Upgradding fuel pump and other small stuff. Should i try my hardest and get this car or is it more work them im getting myself into.

FWD Plymounth Laser TURBO ,motor burns oil has 153,000 miles 5spd tranny is great. the body is in good shape, the interior is a mess. all it needs is a fender. the underside is clean. has new tires, power steering rack seals leaks and needs an computer and i baught a timing belt adjuster for it , i started to take it apart but never got to finish it.

I dont think that its worth it. At 18 i know how hard it is to get money and jobs. The engine has 153000 on it which means its going to need a rebuild which can get costly very fast. 500-1000 or more dollars and with all the other stuff on there i couldnt even waste your time

sorry bro, it just doesnt sound worth it to me if i were you id wait till you find a 1g thats running but needs a lil bit of work for a grand, just keep looking and check ebay once and a while.

If it isn't all that bad it's not that big of a project. If it's burning oil then yea the rings are fried and at 153K miles it's going to need to be rehoned at the least. Probably be safe just boring it .030" over. But for $400 it seems like a good deal but you gotta remember if you don't really have $400 to buy the car where are you going to get the money to rebuild the motor. There are a lot of little expenses that come with it but if you find a decent job than it should be no big deal. But I also see that he started doing a timing belt job...I'm guessing that he either started because it skipping timing and bent the valve's. Or he did it wrong and bent the valve's and is just saying that he started it. I would want to hear the motor run and make sure it even runs ok. Even if it does burn oil that won't affect how it runs too bad.

Well.... i have 2 jobs comeing my way. Hopefully that is. Now i found a tsi awd for 1500 but it got sold before i could get a loan. too bad too it was really nice. Just had some frount end damage. Now i was thinking the same make sure it even runs. Now 400 bucks is cheap. I could talk him down also if im lucky(that is if it runs). How much does hoaning cost. I see it as a lost cause if i have to spend more then 5grand into it. Now i know stuff happens and i could very easily spend 5000 but i see it more as a fun project for now. Im not in a hurry to drive it or anything. Just a cheap project car to have fun with. Also yeh im looken for any turbo car thats cheap right now. More opinons pleasee and thanks for the info so far:thumb:

I just recently bought a 90 GSX for 1000$, body was in awesome shape had a new trans and clutch but I very quickly spent almost 2000$ more in a matter of a couple weeks to make this car a fun DD, I think I replaced or freshend up anything and everything I could get my hands on under the hood, now I have 3000$ gsx that I would trust driving anywhere. If you choos to get this car just remember all DSM's are projects of some sort and to make it a trustworthy car you will need to spend time and money on it to make it so. My personal opinion would be don't waste time on a FWD, jsut give it time and you will find an AWD eventually. Good luck to ya on whatever you choose!

i can only dream of a awd car for now i think. A awd car thats even totaled or broken or blown is sold for like 2-3. Im not joking either. You can find a awd car every blue moon. I found that tsi for 1500 2g and only has minor frount damage. Sold in 2 days. i think he got offered up to 3.5 cause i talked to him a little while ago. I see this more as getting a turbo car then racing. Power is power RIGHT?
