So i keep seeing everyone having issues with the splines ripping off of the disks. And i am kinda skeptical of buying one until the new prototype disks that are available. But i am in desperate need of a new clutch setup and i would like to go twin disk. Is anyone running the organic disk with good results with no issues of splines breaking.

11.2 @ 130mph on big heavy 26" tall MT ET Streets.. Im not the fastest, but ive got over 100 passes on it. No problems here.

It will be removed in a month or so for inspection. You can get them with heat treated splines. Just curious how many people do you hear of having these issues? If its every 1 in 100 id say the odds are pretty good you won't have any issues. Lots of guys strip splines on twin disc's from every manufacture... its just a chance you have to take, but like I said, LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of guys run twin disc's and have zero issues.

No single plate clutch can compare to any twin disc clutch.

(slowgsr) Do you drive your car on the street? And if so, how many miles have you gotten out of the disc? I have a friend with an EVO, and he claims less then 500 miles on a PTT twin disc. His car is an 03', daily driver, stock turbo, 31psi on e85. Has ran a 12.4's all day only a couple mod's. (full 3", pte injectors, e85, PTT clutch, coilovers, decent driver / 60'

our drag evo at jms racing runs 10.02@ 147mph on the QM organic disc and we have no problem with it. Also the clutch has been in the car for about 1yr when the car was drove on the streets. We also have another evo that has the QM in it and that one is a DD.

And your running the organics?

I understand there are alot of people that are running the twin ceramics with no problems but just seeing the pictures make me sick alittle bit... just spent 1300 dollars on all evo3 gears and built it myself and just thinking about the possibility of damaging the input shaft from what the clutch is MADE to do is kinda sketchy to me

are you running the stock throw out bearing or the ptt version?
Thanks for the input.

I know you were asking about the organic disks.... but I haven been using the metallic disks for 2 years now and had to finally replace the disks because they were slipping. After I removed the clutch I realized it wasnt only the disks, the floaters were warped also.I got about 8-9k miles out of the original disks. I probably make at least 40 drag passes a year, I had no problem with splines stripping. The car is only a high 10/low 11 second car though. This is with the PTT unit.

About 8000km on street and lots of street pulls and ~100 passes. There may be considerable wear, but I will update in a few weeks when I pull it apart. this may sound stupid but I don't know if I have the organic or ceramic ones.

I killed a 1 sets of ptt ceramic disk splines. One was because I was putting another trans in the car. Got off track and forgot to make sure the back 12mm block to trans bolt pulled the dowl pin on straight. Drove it like 13 miles, ripped on it once on a 1-2-3 pull and pushed the clutch in and that was it.

2nd set the clutch was below service limit, and i sheered off 3rd gear. Pulled the trans out found out they were below service limit, and the splines were very close to being done.

You will notice the pedal pressure starts getting harder as the disk get thinner, also they acually get louder on decel. I really try to not decel in gear at all, it seems to throw the disk around possibly wearing the splines out..extra precaution I guess.

I dont daily drive my car (have a evo :hellyeah:) but I drive it alot on the weekends, and sometimes during the week.

Organics acually supositly hold more power, but they dont like slipping. So alittle load up on the e-brake, then your typical act 2600/street disk launch would probably keep them happy.
