psi in a 420a

yes you still need to tee the back of the block for the oil pressure.

if you are only running 8 psi or less then all you need is a fmu. the afpr does you nothing with stock injectors. just get a 12:1 fmu and be done with it.

quick ebay search gave me vortech and obx fmu, ive seen people talk about the vortech around these boards and it is in GsGoinFast's guide, should I go vortech, or is there another brand that is good?

yeah, just go with the vortech 12:1 fmu. I've never seen a 13g turbo before...do you have pics? Of course you still need to tee the block...just because you're adding a gauge doesn't mean your turbo doesn't need oil anymore :rocks:

let us know when you're next question pops up, we're almost done putting together your setup :boring:

yea im getting excited, theres a pile of things growing in a corner of my room

I will take some pics and post it before I put it in, but it IS 100% sure the same turbo on the srt4. My friend brought his srt over and we compared, housing are marked the same, size is the same, just his is molded into his exhaust manifold as one piece.

The OBX is fine too. That's what I have. The nipples were different and required some fabrication though so I would suggest the Vortech unless you know how to flare 1/4 inch pipe.

Ok there was a stripped bolt in one of the turbo mounting holes i guess, with a piece of metal. I took my dremel and cut most of it off but it still wont come out. So I hit it with a hammer and the turbo and the exhaust hosuing came apart. It came with a clamp holding the turbo and housing together, but the clamp was old and rusty so I took it off to get a new one and haven't had a chance yet.

now my problem isn't getting the turbo back on the housing, but the actual blades inside the turbo. At first, I spun them and it rotated freely. Now though, it sounds like its grinding something, kind of like there is something between the blades. What should I do?

and it is harder to turn also.

time for a new turbo ;)

...either go with a 14b, or go ahead and get yourself a T3 and manifold :thumb:

there's just no need in messing around with trying to deal with that 13g of yours :p

i have the worst of luck dont I...

at least i get my money back from ebay cuz the guy lied...

if you think you've got the worst luck just because you bought a crap used turbo and it went bad on you....you've got another thing coming ROFL

how bout your car goes boom not even a day after being boosted, then sits on jackstands in the garage for months on end.....then you have a little room to complain   :dsm:

now back to the garage I go...I'm sure I'll check for another question of yours within the next hour :spam:

ok I just took apart the turbo. cleaned up the inside and noticed a ring was cracked, i removed the ring and the turbo spins freely with little noise. the ring is just above the bearing (i think its a bearing, gold round thing with little circles) and below the actual fins of the exhaust side of the turbo. where can I get a replacement? or can I run it without it?

man the last 3 times you posted you've been giving me a hard time... just stop going back into this thread. I am trying to learn here and you are being an ass.

Hopefully by now you've realized how stupid it is to post about not turboing 420a. Especially when you're doing the exact same thing.

About the other question. That ring you're referring to is your seal. Is it a not too think peice of metal? If so that is one of the turbo seals, they aren't rubber like most would think. Asking if you could run without it is a stupid question, and I'm sure since you know it's the seal you know the answer now, but no running without that seal will cause oil to leak out and get in the engine causing you to smoke.

Here is a pic, my finger is pointing to where it came from and the ring is on the bottom.

Ive read and I know pretty much all I need to know how to turbo my car. Im looking for a cheap way to turbo because I want to get a gst or gsx in about a year. I just want to see how I fare putting in my own turbo, then get rid of the car for a factory turboed one.

I never said anywhere I was using the SRT-4 turbo, someone asked in a previous post if it will fit, and I said where I saw one they could get for reasonable cheap. I never even considered taking the srt combo turbo to install into my car.

As for the T-25, my choices for turbo are either a 14b or a t-25. Because of my driving style, and the quick spool up of both of these turbos, I decided that either one would be fine for my application.

You've got it stuck in your head that I don't know what I'm talking about from the first time you posted in the thread.

is all I needed to know.

Change your attitude.
yeah i remember this post. you sure know alot???? :spam: if you search all your questions would have been awnsered 5 pages ago!!!!

ROFL ROFL ROFL

EDIT:
So I've skimmed this last page of the thread (although I will tell you that this thread has gone WAY off topic and I have been intentionally avoiding reading it because it's totally random and, for the most part, irritating to read), and I guess we're not happy about Xmasta jumping in and talking down his nose at people.

In Xmasta's defense, I will say that I can see that he definitely has knowledge and experience in this regard and is likely shooting you straight. On the other hand, his style of posting is not always on the level in terms of tact and maturity. This can grate on people and create tension.

I will tell you that, in the future, you should do more research before posting technical questions, even if that research is sending a PM to one of the NT Wisemen asking what keywords to search for. Then keep threads on topic. This random, "How many PSI" question seems to have turned into "How to buy" and then "How to rebuild a turbo."

People like me don't want to wade through five pages of bullshit to get to the issue. We don't want to hold your hand through every single decision in the process. Stay on topic and you'll get more replies from more people and make the less than tactful comments easier to deal with.

That's all I got on this one.
