Prosport Gauges vs Autometer

Issue with the blue prosport ones they only light up blue they do not have two color choices like the other ones.

So after looking into the gauges I am going to stick with my C2 gauges because autometer has great customer service. Has anyone used the Greddy oil plate for the easy install of oil temp and press gauges? I contacted Greddy and I haven't heard back from them. I lookin to find out if it comes with the sensors already in the plate and if I can use an oem filter and not their Expensive filter.

The autometer C2 gauges are real easy to read during the day because of the white back but at night when they are blue they are very bright and sometimes it makes it hard to see out the front window. I only have two of them right now in a bezel. If ya like the tinted look I belive Defi has the same sort of gauges right? I have never seen anyone with them installed so I don't know how good they look in person or if they are accurate... to me accuracy is the main concern then looks.

I currently have a prosport gauges and I absolutely love them...I have not had any trouble with them and the amber matches the stock gauges really nicely...They give the car a nice clean look.

I have an Autometer boost gauge and have not had any problems. The black face matches the stock guages with the lights off and the amber matches the stock guages with the lights on.

I don't like the tinted look either, I'll take a clear lense anyday.

The main point in favor of autometer is their lifetime warranty. However, I've been running a full set of prosports for about 2 months now and couldn't be happier. If I had to pick again, I would honestly do autometers though as reading nasioc, problems with prosports (especially the electric boost gauge) are very common. Just something to be careful with I guess.

I can only speak for Autometer gauges as thats what I use in my daily driver and what I use in every race car my shop has built in the last 15 years. Never had a problem with Autometer. Reviews are only as good as the people using them, so if there have been problems ask them if they were installed by a professional.

Prosport is a good company, i use their gauges. I had an oil pressure sender fail, i mailed it back they sent me a new one. Now i've had a water temp sender fail just out of no where, i'm going to email them and see if they will replace it. But they are good guys with nice products.

Wow, that didn't take long. What I meant was that if some one who isn't in the know goes out and installs it himself/herself and it doesn't function properly, is it fair for other readers, or worse yet, the manufactures to get bad reviews? I think not. So what I meant by professional was some one who ACTUALLY knows what they are doing!

in not trying to start anything, but it isn't rocket science when it comes to installing boost gauges. i have had 3 on 3 different vehicles. of those three, they have failed on two. one supercharged one turbocharged. all three worked fine at first, and then two started giving false readings and eventually displayed vacuum while the car was off. i also had one shift light/tach combo fail on me as well, and yes it was fused. so with that being said, i have had 3 out of 4 gauges fail on me... like i said, i'm not trying to start anything, but it isn't exactly hard for a shade tree mechanic to install a boost gauge...

I can only speak for us, we have under a 1% return rate.

Most defects that come through for boost sensor are install related issues. Ive seen everything water logged sensor, melted sensors, customers dont use the in-line filter, customer take them apart and mess with the IC board inside then call us saying its defective. We still replace it because we stand behind out product.

I recently installed a prosport white/amber mechanical boost guage and their new white/amber wideband air/fuel ratio guage. Both guages are nicely made and work well. The colors are great as the amber matches the factory guages and the white shows up nicely during the day. My only complaint is the install instructions with the a/f guage. I'm sure they are easily understood if you work for the company, however most of us don't.

I've got prosport: water temp/oil temp/mech boost/oil pressure/volt/fuel pressure/wideband. They are very nice for the money and have always been accurate afaik. The oil pressure sender (like all aftermarket pressure senders) have a tendency to die due to motor vibrations, that's the only downside for me so far. The tinted gauges are hard to see during the day when the sun is shining brightly but now they make them with clear faces as well for anyone concerned with that problem.

Autometer all the way, they have been around forever. Nascar, top fuel cars, funny cars pretty much all race cars use them these days, so if they went bad on you its more likely the wiring was done wrong (which in this case thats the reason). IMO autometer are the most accuarate gauges for your buck

i too have prosport boost, and egt gauges and have no complaints! but after a couple months with the egt, the probe had failed randomly. none the less i got intouch with them and they replaced it free of charge! and its been flawless since then. but i must admit when the electrical egt comes on, i cant stand the loud beeeeppp noise!

Seriously though, isn't the only reason people buy prosport gauges is because they love the on/off theatrics the 270 degree sweep and don't want to pay the money for Defi or Autometer Nexus? I have run autometer and equus guages in every vehicle I have owned and the only problem I am having is with my wideband in the GSX. I haven't had time to properly figure it out yet though . . .

I don't think that's the reason at all; I say it's a bonus to those who are looking for it. I think the bigger reason that they are looking into ProSport, including myself, is the price and functionalilty. Of course that's the case with anypart. I have a friend with 3 Defi gauges and I must say that they are amazing. The are extremely accurate and we have had no issues with them what so ever. However when comparing the prices, it's as simple as everyone can't afford them.

I've been doing a lot of research and have found that ProSport has been in the industry for quite some time, however they aren't publicly endorsed as much as AutoMeter.

Obviously the statement to go buy is "you get what you pay for", and that is pretty much ALWAYS the case. But who says you can't buy good products for a lower price? Look at Costco! Anyways... I'm going to purchase a set of either ProSport or GlowShift gauges and will post a full review of the install and product quality post install.

Prosport is made by the same Chinese factory that makes Glowshift - they are both knock-offs of Defi. Their gauges are pretty chintzy feeling if you've ever handled one. However, their boost gauges are accurate, although the oil pressure sending unit does seem to be a failure point. IMHO, if you are on a budget, stick with Autometer. If you have the money, get the real deal - Defi, not a knock-off.

Good info on both prosport and autometer. I'm debating on both. Have an autometer boost gauge and a prosport oil pressure gauge. They both have pros and cons. I'll probably go with prosport because there local.
