There's supposed to be enough space between the nipple and the body to fit a penny.

if you do it this way you won't see no difference. i did mine with a vacum pump and works fine now..

The Dodgemod is the correct way to get more performance from a 1G Bov. Period.

If the modifaction is too advanced for you, or you don't have the tools, take the BOV to a mechanic with the printed off procedure, and tell him you'll give him $20.00 to follow the procedure.

Bar none, this modification will hold the boost that a predominately street driven car will need.

Crushing the cap and distorting the spring should never be considered a performance mod.

If you want to do it once, do it right.

I've had a crushed BOV on my DSM's for over 5 years. It holds 25psi no problem, and I've had plenty of chances to test it at the track. A crushed BOV is not supposed to sound or feel different, it just holds more pressure.

Crushing the BOV does not distort the spring, it simply raises the spring pressure on the diaphragm the same as tightening the screw on a Greddy Type-S BOV or any other adjustable BOV. And like any other adjustable BOV, you shouldn't adjust it too tight or else you could get compressor surge, which will sound like a duck honking (right PolishShark?). That's why you're supposed to use a vacuum pump and gage to measure how much the spring was tightened. If you jam it in a vice and crank it down until it 'feels right' you will be guaranteed to mess it up. Crush it so the top is angled and you just turned it into garbage. This is not something an ameteur should try.

The Dodge Garage mod also works very well IF DONE CORRECTLY. Before you try it, make sure you have the ability to successfully complete it.

If you can operate a drill, and use a tap and a die and mix up some epoxy, there is no reason to use a vice/vacuum pump and chance ruining a good bypass valve.

The hardest part of the dodgemod procedure is getting the piece of 3/16 brake line "tube to thread".

The rest is gravy.

I have run my dodgemod' BOV for over 3 years in the "quick Release" configuration with no compressor surge or any related problems.

IMHO It sounds better than most bov's I have heard, and does it all looking like a stocker/costing less.

Boost pressure HOLDS the valve closed until the pressure differential of the throttle blade closing forces all the air right into the inlet pipe (Recirculated of course) and full boost is ready again.

If you get the dejon leak stop kit, it comes with all the threaded hose barbs, so you don't need any brake line or anything, and all you need is the 10-32 tap because they give you a 10-32 set screw with it. To be honest, I'm very glad I took 30 minutes out of my day to do this mod and save quite a bit of money over buying another bov and having it flanged, etc..
