So I have been looking over a lot of the forums and posts on DSM Forums and I have a pretty good idea on what I need to hit my 500HP mark. It seems like a very common goal. My thoughts are these:

2.3L Stroker kit off of ebay eagle rods and wiseco pistons.
1000cc injectors
255 walbro fuel pump
Either HX40 or GT35R I need help with that (spool rate, boost capability ect..)
25-30psi
272/272 cams
DSM Link
ARP Maine and Head studs
2900 ACT or Twin Disc clutch
OEM MLS Head Gasket
Header and 3" exhaust to duel exhaust.
I have a large enough intercooler.

If you have anything else to add it would be awesome, thank you!!!

I wouldnt trust a ebay strocker kit first off you dont need bigger displacement to achieve 500hp 2.0 can do it easy as well though it is nice for bigger turbos. Please dont do dual exhaust there is no point but dead weight and looks stupid on a four cylinder car.

You planning on running E85 or meth injection? And If you're going to replace the head gasket I'd go with the Cometic MLS...They're the best! as far as ebay kits go don't waste your money man just save up and buy the real deal you'll be better off in the long run...You're planning on upgrading your cams but are you gonna go ahead and do the dual bee hive valve springs and titanium retainers and forger stainless steel valves while you're at it? Other than that it sounds like you've got a good idea on what you :thumb:

Maintenance!, all your timing components etc, consider using a afpr. Only a decent tune will get your goals. Your going to need some machine done to your motor for the stroker kit/ metal HG.

Have fun and good luck.

dsmz4life.. you really don;t run e85 and meth injection together... And i have ran a mitcu MLS as well as the cometic MLS and i by far like the mitsu one much better.. but anyways to the op.. just make sure you have a plan on whic parts you are going to buy.. that way your not just throwing your money around.. and i would definatly tear the maintnance up before doing all this to the engine and such..

doesn;t matter if your engine can make 500 awhp if the car is never on the road
good luck

35r will get you 500 plus hp on race gas and depending on how your tuner tunes your car get some kelford or gsc cams 272's or 280's ported head and i would go with mahle 9.1 comp pistons and eagle rods but for 500hp you would want a built trans and maybe do dual 255 fuel pumps

I'm sorry I meant to say OR instead of with :ohdamn:... May I ask what the difference between the two as to why you like running the Mitsu MLS more? But definitely tear that engine apart and do a full rebuild with all new gaskets and belts...Because I know how much it would suck to skip out on it and get your motor back in and have something leaking on a fresh build and have to pull it all over again :banghead:

There are vendors on this site that also have ebay stores. If you are buying real wiseco, arias, eagle, whatever, it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Have you thought about going with speed density instead of dlink?

Speed density is not a tuning solution, its merely a way of eliminating our maf. He'd still need some type of tuning device.

Like said above, if you are getting real eagle/wiseco it doesn't matter where its from. I'd probably go with a bigger cam as well. 1000cc might be too small depending on what you run for gas. Idc's might be close to maxed on pump gas.

^ What he said... Widebands are a must! ...and don't try and cheap out and get a Narrowband because it's really just a waste of money because they basically read exactly the same as the factory O2 sensor which really won't be accurate enough for your setup

True, but once he has his timing and fuel dialed in the way he wants he can go with speed density and all he would heed is a Eprom that can be chipped by Dave at Foreign Muscle for relatively cheap... but once you have it you can turn up or down your amount of boost you desire without the need of another tune just because you increased/decreased boost, because your ecu will automatically adjust and compensate for it :hellyeah:

1000cc is barely cutting it... go bigger or you will be limited to sub par 500whp on race gas.

Def spend every penny you can on tuning.

Your ECU can only compensate so much. The best way is to re-tune. If I was making ~500hp I wouldn't just go and crank up the boost hoping the ECU would compensate for it.

DSMlink running speed density sounds like the best solution to run a SD setup.

Here's a good link to what you need to support 500hp.

Holly ####ing missinformation batmnan!!!!! Where to begin...

1: The ebay kit he speaks of is comprised of Wiseco and Eagle parts just like you would get from SBR or Extreme PSI or any other name vendor that would be happy to rape you for more money and help you sleep better at night

2: hx40's/GT35r's with the right hotsides and tune could make 500whp on pump gas

3: SPeed density is not something you do in place of Dsmlink which I"m guessing is "dlink". V3 ECMlink(what they call the newest version of Dsmlink) can operate using SPeed density instead of a maf with the use of a map and IAT sensor.

4: 272's are more than enough for 500whp but with a stroker you may want to go with something more in the ball park of a 280 cam(with the exception of Kelford 272s which are more like 280s)

Your on the right path just be prepared to spend more money than you thought on little stuff that will come up as the build progresses. Like AFPR I don't see a smim which I would strongly recommend with a stroker setup and even more importantly I don't see anything other than a clutch for drivetrain stuff. That's where you will spend the most money. A strong trans and transfercase along with a 4bolt swap will def be in your future.
