Hey i just ordered a manual boost controller from QBoost, (off the vendor page) and i was wondering if it was reliable / efficient to have it running into my cab. I payed the extra 20$ or so for the 'in car' kit. Does having the controller sticking out of my dash or something sound bad to anyone? any forseeable problems? If there is something wrong with it i can just cut the vac hoses and put it where it should be, but it would be handy to have a cheap way to change boost from my seat.

Thanks def,
Yeah i know about the electronic alternatives, but i need a cheapie for now. I was gonna make my own but saw an in cab mbc and thought i would give it a shot. Do you know the approximate reaction time between adjustments? I wouldnt need much boost for daily driving, but if i wanted to come home from work a little quicker one day and didnt wanna pop the hood this would be ideal ;) or if i ran into one of my buddies on the road and wanted to screw around. would it take a few miles for the new boost to register? or more/less?

also can you turn you boost down (below stock) with a mbc? would that help gas mileage? or be even worth it at all / harmful.

You can't get a lot cheaper than ten or fifteen bucks.

It's not the adjustment lag, it's the opening of the wastegate lag after the adjusting's done. The turbo is having to pressurize whatever length of tubing you're running. Notice how the MBC installation instructions advise to keep the runs as short as possible.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid.

Again, that's not the problem. Excessive boost levels before the wastegate opens are.

No. Only a weaker wastegate solenoid spring will do that.

You're not going to get really good mileage with such a low-compression engine. Your best efficiency is probably in running just a couple of pounds worth of boost.
There's reasons you don't see more dash-mounted mechanical boost controllers.

Figured as much, ill just cut the vac hoses and put it where its supposed to be. thanks a ton.
