problems w/ 16g install

Okay so I installed my 16G and FMIC today w/ 3" Piping.... I take my first spin in it and it doesn't feel as strong as my t-25 for some reason... my engine is making a weird ticky noise when it starts to spool up not like lifter tick. Also it doesn't blow off as hard and when it's spooling up you can hardly hear the cold air intake anymore it used to be very loud blowing off and intaking...my stupid ass little Air/Fuel Gauge doesn't even flash any colors anymore.. ( I know the gauge is useless but itused to flash atleast and on WOT it was green...) the car really doesn't even seem to make as much power really..Anything I'm missing here.... my mods suck All I have done so far is the fmic, 16g, 3" Apexi Exhaust, MBC, Boost Gauge, Air/Fuel Gauge, K&N Intake, Greddy BOV, and that's about it...
 
Oh and my car is kinda giving off a blue smoke on idle not that bad anymore but a small amount... there's a small little kink in the stainless steel braided oil line that I just bought I don't think it's having an effect though but I don't know?
 
first off you should update your profile.
second what did you tune with?
third boost leak test it.
fourth get a A/F ratio gauge that works


Blue smoke is caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture. As with the white smoke, just a small drop of oil leaking into the cylinder can produce blue smoke out the tailpipe.

its possible you haveworn valve guides, piston rings

I would also get that kink out.

sounds like an exhuast leak. It could be leaking between the manifold and the turbo which would slow down your spool up, and cause a lack of power.
 
Smoking also could be your turbo, is it used or no? Did you check for shaft play? Make a boost leak tester and check it, if it comes out good Id check your turbo. Also you'll be hitting fuel cut if your still on stock fuel system.
 
turbo is used... only had some small side to side shaft play no more than my t-25
 
I suspect its a bad turbo...

Boost leak test to be sure. Check your lines, make sure they aren't crimped. If all comes back fine and you are still smoking and running sluggish. Then check for gasket leaks on the exhaust manifold and in particular manifold to turbo. If that looks fine... then 90% chance its the turbo in my mind.
 
I think that if the boost leak passed your turbo is going bad... did you run 3" charge piping, if so that may be a little extreme for a 16G
 
I still don't understand why my air/fuel gauge doesn't even blink at all though...
 
If theres a kink in your turbo feed line you need to fix it asap before you drive any more. That couldve been why your stock turbo died. Confirm the 16g doesnt have axial shaft play and if not then it shouldnt smoke too much. The air fuel ratio gauge problem could be a number of things. Perhaps you hit or accidentally disconnected the 02 connection harness by mistake when installing the 16g.
As far as it not pulling as hard, if your running low boost on the 16g with minimal mods the 16g wont make any more power than the t25 by itself. It needs supporting mods and more boost... The only thing you probably achieved at this point is slower spool which will make you feel like the car is slower.
 
Do you know why my check engine light is on? When I had it ran on the computer it said coolant temp level failed then I cleared the cel and it passed the next test then I drove it for a little bit longer and it did it again! wtf
 
Your a/f guage, is it working but just pegged? Does it read extremely lean or rich at idle? A number of things would cause this, but i'd bet a big boost leaks somewhere, especially after a new ic install. My brand new core had the biggest leak in it. BOOST LEAK TEST IT!

May I ask why you got the 3 inch pipes? the standard size should of been more than enough, especially with your 16g. If anything it will hurt your power, making spool up slower.

How did your car run before? Why you install the 16g and IC? I would bet you turbo seals are going and thats the blue smoke, atleast if it didn't do it before.
 
No there are no lights whats so ever on the a/f gauge... also I went w/ three inch because I don't plan on sticking with a 16G forever..
