Well I am regretting getting my mac, but it's a little too late for that. I finally got dsmlink installed on my laptop and I was really excited because it wasn't easy. (macs are somewhat new to me). Anyways, my buddy sold me dsmlink and he included the $35 9 pin usb to serial cable. The cd that came with this cable is for windows 98 or greater. Unfortunately, macbooks are not "greater" haha. This is the cable I have.

I am having the same problem as this guy. I thought I'd start a new thread considering that one is a little old. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256122&highlight=dsmlink+mac
I did some searching and found that I need the software for the usb installed (usually these things are automatic). This is when I found out that the cd I have is for windows 98 and greater, like I previously stated.

I found a site that explains how to download software for this cable onto the computer on http://www.improvision.com/support/tech_notes/detail.php?id=248 but that tells me to use www.keyspan.com. But after trying and failing and talking with somebody from their help line, we concluded their software will not work with this usb cable.

I would like to mention that I posted a thread on this on the dsmlink forums, and I have had very little response, which is why I'm trying this forum. http://www.dsmlink.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16379 I also noticed that there are only a couple threads having to due with macs and dsmlink, so I didn't think one more detailed one would hurt.

After searching on the forum and on google I still have a few questions:
Is there a software out there that I can download to get working with this usb?
If you are running dsmlink with a mac, what usb cable are you using?

Thanks in advance and I hope this helps anybody in the future with this problem.

The Radio Shack link didn't work for me. I'm very surprised it just didn't work when you plugged it in. I've only had to download a driver once on my mac i've had for a few years. If the cable isn't a keyspan I don't see why a keyspan driver would work. If it is just bring it into the mac store with the correct drivers and they should be able to get it to work for free. Also where did you find a mac version of dsm link. I just bought dsmlink but didn't even know there was a version that would work on my mac so I used someone else's laptop.
Otherwise you could just buy another usb adapter cable made for a mac. Or you could install windows on your mac. If you have an old pc just use that windows disk and partition your harddrive. They do make virtual windows for osx but I still think you would need the mac driver. Goodluck!

Yea dsmlink will work on a mac. Just search "dsmlink on a mac" and two links will pop up. Just follow the instructions, it's not hard especially if you know how to work a mac. I know I could get another usb adapter, but this was like a $35 cable and I was just hoping I could find some software that would work.

I believe the guy that created DSMLink now has a USB cable rather than the Serial cable... someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe this will help too...

I believe the guy that created dsmlink for mac is different than the guy that made it for pc. The mac guy has responded a few times to my thread on dsmlink.com and he hasn't yet mentioned a cable he has made, but he's tryin to help me get software for this one. No luck at all yet.
