I was just wondering if a 89 probe GT turbo would fit on a 420a (2nd gen 95 RS) and make any power out of it. I have an 89 probe turbo just laying around i also have a t3-t4e hybrid just laying around but i dont want to have to rebuild the engine. I am just wondering if you think that the little stock turbo off my probe would fit and acually make the power at the right RPM to be worth it. Any help would be great

thanks

If I remember correctly the probe turbos are really small and you would not get much power out of them at all. Stock probe GTs ran high 15s stock if I remember correctly not that it matters.

yea i am not looking for a whole lot of power out of my RS i have other vehicles with power. I am just looking for a little help. I mean i dont want to have to rebuild the engine. I would like to keep it the way that it is and then when it start running like crap later on i can rebuild it and go for the hot rod. But right now the car just needs a little help in the high altitude that i live at. I also have a t3-to4e hybrid but i know that would blow chunks of this car and i really didnt pay that much for it so that i can use 1/4 of the capablity. That is going on my 94 KL03/KLZE probe. so does everyone on here agree that it is a waste of time. The turbo on the probe would be a little smaller then what is on the Subaru WRX's.

thanks

just to ask what is a good turbo for an unbuilt 420a. I dont want a big boost engine i have had that and this is my GF's christmas present so i dont want here out racing it, but i also dont want it to be a slow SOB. what can i run for a turbo and still have it reliable and safe with out a rebuild

well basically any turbo can fit on any car, just matters about the manifold, sure u wont get a major increase in hp but u will get some differnce,

i went mid 13s with my old 89 modded turbo probe(stock turbo) turbo spools fast, weak top end though, 15psi is basicallly the max while still retaining effeciency. it is one of the smaller turbos doesnt flow alot of air in the higher rpm range. it would fit if mated with the right flange. u said "if it would make the power at the right rpm to be worth it" what rpm range do u need it to be making the power, what rpm's do u shift at. normally on the 1g turbo probes they start running out of gas around 5500-6000, it really depends on the application the turbo probes weak point is the sohc head if u could get more air in(headwork, ported intake manifold) then the turbo would might last all the way to redline. this turbo could work for u since its not a powerhouse, it wouldnt put as much strain on your engine.

was i am looking for is an engine that would keep up with stock turbo probe. I was thinking that this turbo feeds a slighty bigger engine in the turbo probe, and that it is a safe turbo for this engine and that it would have to do decent because my probe ran really good with that stock turbo at stock settings (by really good i mean for the mileage, year and engine size) I was just thinking that the same turbo on this engine would be a good combo as well. The only thing that i really dont know about is if this 2.0 in my RS would push the exhaust turbine to make a decent amout of boost. Another thing have you guys heard of remotly located turbo systems. I have been wanting to try that for some time but never got around to it. what do you think about this??
