Hi, i think the mitsubishi dealer ripped me off and i'd like to find out.
(sorry, couldn't find a better forum to post this in)

for any mechanics out there, do you know how long should it take to replace the "engine oil pressure switch (aka bell switch) and engine "oil gauge unit"? they charged me $380 just for labor on those parts (so 4-6 hours AT LEAST ), which seems very excessive for changing a switch. any estimates would be very appreciated as i'm trying to fight those bastards.

First you know you got ripped off by going to the stealership. And second that is a long time for the repairs mentioned. Check your service manual to see where the parts replace are located and guestimate the time it would take to get to them.

They probably double charged you time for each unit they change.

The local dealership in my area charged my friend $1000 to change the starter and plugs on his 3G V6. He is very mechanically uninclined so he just payed it. I was pricing around my 60k work to see if it was more cost effective to have them do it. $1400 was the estimate. Basically they were doubling the labor by adding the removal and installation for changing each belt and the parts.

I laughed at them and told them they were double charging the time then they offered a 15% discount, I said I would just do it my self.
