Which one would you pick and why...

which one put down more power...

i know the compressor wheels are the same...but the exhaust sides have different wheels...which one is better...

which one is more reliable...

do both have the same bearing setup (is one a bolt down thrust and the other not)

thanks...

If you look around, you can find a 35R cheaper than you can find a BB SC-61.

if you can point me in the right direction i will be very thankfull...

The GT35r with out a question.

What about A/R? Correct me if im wrong but cant you get the 35r with a 1.06? Whats the biggest the sc61 has?

Whats the exhaust wheel size on the SC61? Who sells these and where can I find more info?

everyone sells them...

extremepsi.com has them...

decent prices also...

Cheapest place to get those turbos is phoenixturbo or arturbo.com. Call them up and ask if the sale on honda-tech is still going on. I just got a sc6152 with a to4s cover for 749 shipped.

I voted GT35r just because I've been in a GSX with one and its was more fun then a roller coaster (and alot faster)

i would recommend getting the Precision SCM-61http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=2211&
i have it and the lag really isnt bad at all and its like $300 bucks cheaper plus since its a mitsu housing you can use a ported 2g manifold like i have and save even more money over buying a manifold for the gt35r if you dont already have one.
its just my opinion but use the scm-61 and with all the money you save buy some cams

He already said he'll by running a t3 flanged exhaust housing. I doubt he's using a stock manifold for that.

qtxdevilz you asked if they both use the same bearing set up. I can't speak for the sc61 but Garret uses a dual ball bearing set.

The gt35r will put down more power but the scm61 will spool slightly faster. In my opinion not fast enough to make it worth not going with the gt35r. Exspect lag to be evident in both though and be ready with all the supporting mods under the sun cause these are both serious turbos.

To be exact I would go gt35r w/ to4s cover in a t3 .63ar or bolt on housing for a street/track slut :rocks: = easy 500hp car(with the right supporting mods)

the SC61 will be a great choice bud. The SC61 is available in a ball bearing in the 6031. The 6152 only comes in Journal and if you really search around you will see that folks have made butt loads of power. I love that turbo. Does very well on pump gas and response is not bad at all.

x2

I have cut a 1.39 second 70-90 time with mine on pump gas (~25.5 PSI.) Full boost in third by 47xx. Hopefully a bit less on spool time, and faster 70-90 sprints with some more tuning. :rocks:

The difference between the two in terms of power when using a .63 A/R turbine housing would be very small, I would just get whichever one is cheaper.

I actually just got my 35r with .82a/r and S cover on today. I only have it at around 18psi with no knock so far on pump but it pulls hard so far.

But for your question i would say 35r hands down not only because thats what alot of Big guys run, but because a 35r will hold its value more than 60-1 when you decide to sell. Either way you will be happy i think :thumb:

He's not talking about a 60-1. It's the SC61, a GT35R compressor wheel and a stage 5 turbine wheel in a .63 A/R turbine housing.

SC-61 = 1 yr. turbo
35R = 2 yr. turbo

Two great and basically identical turbos. One just lives a little longer when you beat on it.

GT35r
Compressor side:
• 56 "trim" compressor wheel
• 2.41" inducer
• 3.22" exducer
• 65 lb/min airflow

Turbine side:
• Turbine Wheel Trim: 84
• 2.45" exducer
• 2.68" major

SCM6152E
Garrett Compressor Wheel Specs:
Wheel Trim: 56
Wheel Diameter: 61mm
Wheel Inducer: 2.416"
Wheel Exducer: 3.227"

Garrett Turbine Wheel Specs:
Wheel Trim: 76
Wheel Style: T350
Wheel Inducer: 2.795"
Wheel Exducer: 2.437"

These turbos are only the same on the compressor side. The GT35R has the bigger turbine wheel which is why it will make more power. If you don't plan on reaching for 600+hp just get whichever is cheaper cause they will both do the trick. If you are reaching and want every bit of power you can get go with the GT35R.

what kind of bullshiet is this...show me some scientific proof on what you just said and i will send you my sc61 bb that i just purchased...

anyway...i went with a sc61 bb because i got it brand new for a very good deal...and i called precision up and they said at the most the gt35r will make 20-25 more power than a sc61 bb because the gt35r has a slightly more efficent wheel...but for the price difference and the 20 hp difference...i made the smart choice and got the sc61 bb for much cheaper...plus i did not have to wait for the sc61 bb...the car is up and running now...feels great...

I agree that's a naieve comment. Please show me some proof or don't make blantantly false comments about things.:notgood:
