pre-install to4b 50 trim questions (long)

i bought a used 50 trim w/ 200 miles about a week ago. the guy got it from www.dsmparts.com. the reason i started this thread is because there are so many variants of the 50 trim that i can't be assured what info applies to my turbo.
first: i want to take apart the exhaust housing and port the inlet/wastegate hole. To do this i was told there were certain lines that i needed to take note of when i removed the exhaust housing. does anyone have any pictures of these lines? i also found this thread saying that i should copper spray the plates before reinstalling them. although in the pictures in the link it shows the compressor housing.. does this apply to both housings?

second for the turbo to o2 gasket, can i use an evo 3 or is there a specific one for the t04b? here is a pic of what mine looks like:

and i am also very confused about the water lines. this thread says i should buy aftermarket water lines, but it is talking about a bb 50 trim. will my oe water lines work for my non-bb t04b?

You should double check but most turbos that are not BB don't usualy use both water lines and oil feeds(of course except the OEM type turbo's 13b, 14b, 16g ect...). I have a dual ball bearing turbo from SBR and I used the stock likes and my turbo is a lot bigger than a 50 trim. Portin and such I would do a search there is a wiseman that they say can walk you thre it I think it's 90gsx or 90 somethin is his name.

i have double/tripled checked and i can't find any info on the www.dsmparts.com t04b 50 trim..

i have read lots of Oldman's thread and they do great to explain the process of porting i just don't get the removal/reinstall process..

do you guys think that oil feed will work?

the flange you have for the oil feed will work fine as long as you are using a ss line with that end on it. i would just run the oil from the filter, since you will be using a ss line with it. freshly filtered oil is the best for the turbo. the oil drain is something you will need to research. have you tried calling dsmparts directly?

That turbo has a Bullseye housing. There's no porting necessary. The porting tips you're thinking of are for OEM Mitsu housings, wheres the aftermarket castings like Bullseye, PTE, and FP are already cast with ideal openings and wastegate passages.

So porting and polishing isn't going to help spool time at all? Do you have any other information on this such as a link or something? This is new to me as even people with bb pte says that porting and polishing has helped bring spool down at least a couple hundred rpms. i know that isn't much but every little bit helps. and it will also help to prevent creep..

Lol when I said double check I meant look at the turbo not online. All you have to do is see if it has the hook up for the water lines likeyour old turbo did(that is if your old turbo was a 14 or such). Look for banjo bolt hook ups right near the center cencetion of the turbo

blah i never thought i would say this but i am giving up. i am just gonna call matt from sbr and hopefully he can help me out. oh and thanks guys for letting me know it was a bullseye housing. makes life a little easier

Ya, SBR sells a lot of Bullseye's turbos....You happen to have a T04b V-trim, which apparently is water cooled (not all are)...

SBR probably sells the install kit with new ss lines and stuff, and Mike will definitely tell you what you need and what to do...

ha i just came to the realization that my turbo isn't even water cooled!! can't believe it took me this long to realize this, but hey less stuff i have to buy! any suggestions on what drain line to buy?

Lol dude I told you like a month ago that it probablt wasn't as usualy ball bearing turbos are water and oil cooles as journal bearing turbo's are just oil cooled like i said with some exceptions of course.

^^^ yeah you were definetly right. i been kind of loopy with school and all. well i just did a test fitting on my new evo gt mani and ran into a problem.. the fitting doesn't clear the manifold. should i just purchase a 90* fitting? can you tell what size it is by looking at it??

which fitting are you talkin about?? I hope you don't mean your trying to use the oil feed from the bullseye hosuing on the evo16g

wait what? where did you get the evo16g from?? the oil feed fitting that came with my 50trim turbo will not fit because it hits the manifold. so i was wondering if maybe a 90* fitting would work..

I was just going to say that. Your second picture show that the CHRA is a dry housing.

any suggestions on what drain line to buy?

Just make sure it is at least 1/2" ID (which is the same as a -10 in AN fittings). Also, make sure you dont cheap out on the drain line. I made one out of cheaper rubber hose once (is was a Saturday night and the parts store wasn't going to be open until Monday) and it tore. I lost almost all of my oil in 1.5 miles; luckily no engine damage occured. But the moral of the story is to be patient and spend the extra couple dollars to do it right the first time, instead of jerry-rigging it like I did.

My bad I thought when you said evo gt manifold you were talkin about a turbo you were talkin about the exhaust manifold I got ya. You saying the 90* elbow for the intercooler piping didn't fit right?

wait what? where did you get the evo16g from?? the oil feed fitting that came with my 50trim turbo will not fit because it hits the manifold. so i was wondering if maybe a 90* fitting would work..

Everyone is getting confused here. The fitting on his turbo that feeds from the oil filter housing is hitting against the top of his EVO III manifold. You need to get a 90 degree fitting so the line goes below the manifold. I picked mine up at a local hydraulics store that sells AN fittings. Mine was 1/8 NPT on one side and -4AN on the other. Hope this helps.

Yes.

I have the oil feed and drain lines that came with a Vtrim bullseye turbo.

one thing to consider, If you try to thread an L shaped fitting into the top of the turbo you May run into problems with the housings preventing the rotation to tighten it in.

I had this problem on my agp 50trim.

How doesn the fitting touch your Manifold??? take a picture of this.
the bullseye oil feed line has a Curved solid section than curves down to the fitting on the chra.
