my power steering belt got busted. can i still be driving around with out it until i get a new one? im just worried something will happen to the car if the power steering is not working. i know its gonna be hard to steer but i could live with that.

Ive had mine off for 8 months thru snow, rain and all. One of the best mods you can do seriously. Just a pain to parallel park but otherwise its ok . Just cut or twist one of the hoses to help out a little. :talon:

Yea i've had mine off since dec. and it hasn't hurt me in any way it has only made my car a little faster by freeing up some of the horsepower the engine has in it with the powersteering belt gone it should also delete the a/c from workin. Good and cheap mod haha :talon:

LOL, mine just went out on me yesturday on the freeway, and I just had it replaced about a month ago(had all my belts replaced b4 I went turbo). Maybe it was for a reason, either way I took it back to Mitsu/chrysler and they said they'd fix it for free since they just put one on (plus I know the mitsu mechanic who would have done it for free anyways.) But I have school and have to wait until wed. They said as long as your other belts are still turning (ie for the waterpump/alternator) your fine. But I need that belt back on asap because Paralle parking in seattle is a bi*** w/out it. It was fun though, because I stoped my friends crx(w/ LS motor) earlier, but last night w/ out the belt I just railed all over him, and this other guy w/ a civic hatch w/ nitrous.

It should be fine...pain in the ass to steer though. I broke mine cuz I was being dumb and pegging the limiter...the dealer even told me that if you keep it up high long enough, it will either slip or break on yah...

I couldn't live through daily traffic with out...

But I'm sure it doesn't hurt the car none.

From what I hear oem is the best. I have never heard of one thats is stronger, just equal to oem specs.

I been debating taking my power steering pump belt off too....because I also wanna get rid of my A/C...no point in having A/C in northeast Ohio.....but my friend who is a parts manager at dodge was able to find me a power steering only belt for a talon which would eliminate the A/C and the belt tensioner but keep the power steering.....but if you gain some good power w/o power steering then maybe ill go that route.... :thumb: :dsm:

Has anyone elimnated all their a/c components and notice anything?
