power steering belt keeps ripping

hi i have a 98 eclipse gs and would like to know why my power steering belt keeps getting eat up by my pulleys. I would also like to know if this have occured to anyone else and what you did to solve this problem. thanx

Usually it's because the pulleys are not lined up or bent. But it could also be due to incorrect tensioning or incorrect belt (eg. width too narrow so it bottoms out) or belt is rubbing against something.
