Well what the hell???

I am kind of worried now since I have only owned the car for one week.

I don't understand.. should I worry??

Well on msn it says that the only n/a available motor for the spyder is the big 2.4 and after comparing the stroke of the 4g63 ( 3.46") wich redlines at 7k, the stroke on the 2.4 is longer (3.94") by nearly a half inch, meaning the piston has further to travel in the same amount of time (one revolution), in turn meaning piston speeds are much higher, so they have to lower the redline for reliability, in turn for torque. That, and then factor in the probability that they probly didn't put as advanced of a head on to cut down on costs, come on it's a base model right, and wallah! This is why your redline is probably lower.

I can actually help you guys out on the confusion with the gauges for the non turbo eclipses..first of all I have seen both stock spyder non turbo and the coupe non turbo eclipses the redline on the spyder is 6 grand i believe and the gauge only goes up to 8k when the 420a non turbo eclipse goes up to 9k and redlines at 7k on the guage..as for turbos I don't know where their redline is...I had the same problem when i purchased my indiglo gauges off of ebay the RPM guage was all messed up..the redline is at 6.5k when it is actually 7k on the old face gauges and it only goes up to 8k instead of 9k..so I am taking off my guages to find some more accurate ones...does anybody know where i can find some more accuate guages for my 420a that goes up to 9k and redlines at 7k?

Notice how the red is broken imbetween 6500 and 7000, thats just there way of doing it. Ive seen other guages like that too that red line the same way, besides other people in the car will be all like wtf is he doing

just be like, "calm down sweet heart, I know what I'm doing here :p "

well actually the rev limiter is there at 6.5k RPM cuz I have hit it and it wont goto 7k the guages are messed up...and on the old guages its 7k..I think i am gonna just rip it all out :p

The gauges dont have anything to do with the revlimiter at all.

I know that..its just that the RPM guage is wrong..redline is at 6.5k that is when my rev limiter hits..when it is actually hitting at 7.3k on the old guages..do you see where i am getting at?..the guage doesn't go up to 9k like it should..its just annoying that the RPM guage is in accurate...

4g64 has a lower redline because it's SOHC and it's 2.4l

I will show you guys my gauges and also a nice rear shot of what I did to that too! I did the LED mod but I liked the orange on my indiglo gauges you guys can feel free to give me your opinions... (now that I look at it more of a red would be cool too

Thanx for the clarification.

Now can I buy aftermarket gauges that redline at 6?? I havent been able to find any.

Can I just use the gauges that redline at 7? not like I redline my car that often.. afterall its just a GS, and you'll never see me ripping around town at high rpm
