I too think that is the best way to go, however, it is not the most custom. I would like to see some fiberglass enclosures and custom mounts. I agree though, it is the best way to do it. Keep the pics coming!

hows this for custom, and its a cheap and quite easy way to go.
My friend has a honda del sol and he did this and i am currently doing this in my car (95 eclipse).
He bought a portable dvd player and took apart the 7 inch monitor from the player and got cord extensions so the monitor could be connected to the player and be a couple feet away, he then put the player in his glove box.
Then he rigged up some nice ball bearing slides and placed them to the back of the monitor. then putting the second part of the slide just above the cd player in the empty slot which i think is made to hold cd cases.
this may be a little confusing but if you want me to take some pictures i can do that. Some may think it sounds ghetto but it looks really clean. Great idea for us who dont feel like spending 1500 on a decent motorized roll out 7 inch. and this way you can keep your cd deck too.

i have it this way right now but i am going with the car computer in about a month. so there will be a 8in screen lassed into the double din. when it is done i will post pics.

yes, post some pics of his setup. I just bought a clarion 6.4 lcd monitor I plan on molding into the dual deck spot. I planned on just using a ps2 to play dvd's and games, however, I have been told I can not do that. I have been told I need a "brain". You guys out there with seperate monitors will this work with just a cd player, monitor, power inverter, ps2? Thanks and keep posting pics........I know there are more out there.

you do need a brain of some sort. you will have very little volume controll if you use a four channel amp and run the audio rca's direct to the amp.(think about it it makes since)

it's all about the input. i cant think of a headunit with a viedo out put. the way i am going to do the 8" in the double din is with a carputer. thats the only way i know how to get what you want. other than this:

Not even a video output, just another audio out that goes into the monitor and it interprets the audio and displays it. I'm going with a carputer too, but was just throwing that idea out there.

thanks for the compliments but yeah i wanted something custom but clean and functional and didn;t want to spend over 1k but sometimes i wonder cause this isn;t simple and havint everything in one unit would be nice but whatever floats ya boat

more pics on my website. the Alpine monitors have some of the best setups for managing mobile video. the IVA-D900 & IVA-D901 have 3 AUX inputs and can control two separate zones of audio/video output from the source unit.
