I've got the EVO hood in CF and get lots of comps on it all the time. Check my avatar, I know it's not a good pic, but the only one i've got at the moment. I would definitly get something vented above your exhaust mani.

I've been looking for a fiberg;ass VADER style hood all day. Can't find it for the life of me. Anyone have a link or.. ?? Would be greatly appreciated! :thumb:

I picked up the carbon fiber spoiler from ebay for about $250. shipped, i was extremely impressed with the quality especially for the price and it being from ebay. The color of my car is a stock color, but its very rare Metallic Cayenne Red (P88).

Damn! the red gsx is hot! ive been waiting to see the carbon turbo spoiler on a car for sooo long!!!! damn...when i get mine its guna be all black....and im gunnna get that cf trunk and spoiler...and paint the top half of the hatch black so it flows better..i cant wait:D ..and the cf hood too of course

Will this hood clear the timing belt cover? Annnd do any of you have any pics of this hood installed?

Once again yes! I DO NOT mess with Non Turbo Hoods, they look insanly stupid! Plus you can see the rise in the hood where the hump is...All these hoods don't have a hump, the hood rises up where the hump should be, but on both sides and in the middle so you could have an Evo engine in your car with the timming belt cover on the opposite side and it will fit! Ask Chaser if they have any pics of it installed.

Also one more thing about evo hoods that sucks tho... is Rust! If your car gets rained on or washed... Water easily drops right down onto your engine/Turbo/manifold... I had alot of rust I had to clean off before it set in with my Evo Hood. I hated that!

Rare color? I almost have the same, except yours looks newer, and I've seen alot in that color and Mitsubishi told me its called Barcelona Red. You know what I wanna find, the old 95-99 Paint Code/Names from the original brochures!

And I to have also been waiting for install pics of the CF Wing... but instead of paying the almost 300 for it, I decided to go with a CF 2GB Talon Wing!

That is a good call about the rust and rain getting inside. Man that would annoy the hell out of me. hmmm now what? Still like the vader hood. You are going to be looking all year for the vader hood in fiberglass because I dont think they make it.

It anoyed me cause I had a brand new built motor, brand new star manifold and brand new turbo and wastegate hanging around right under... I had to keep drying things off or cleaning it all with brake cleaner when its cool to make sure the rust stayed away.

If you car cover or garage your car... Evo hood is great... if you like it ofcource... you'll still have to do some cleaning up... but not as much. My car wasn't covered. It was a driveway car!

And I also agree with that Vader hood, I LOVE IT! ITS FLIPPIN HOT!

I don't know what you're talking about as far as the EVO hood goes. I live in the Pacific NW and my car is a DD and I've never even seen 1 incling of rust start to develop. Of course I still have my stock manifold and turbo so maybe the materials that they're made from has an effect on rust.

man those oem hoods like so clean compared to all the others. there is a sale in the norcal section for cf hoods and hatches. the vendor is HiRev. check them out, they have great prices

When turbo's and manifolds n stuff are shipped and whatnot... they are coated with an oily material that is kinda like lotion/sunscreen to us. It prevents rust. If you spray something to clean things up like carb or brake cleaner, that stuff will usually go bye bye. And water will start soaking into the metal and creates rust. I had my manifold for a very long while. My stock Manifold rusted, the Star manifold and turbo I bolted up to it didn't. The head/block started to develop rust patches. Nothing strong, just light rust.

There is ofcource preventative ways to the Rust! And thats to layer the rust-able materials with Anti Rust liquid. I used WD-40 on a block that should have rusted, and its been sitting in the weather for a few months and no rust!

So I was just warning about the abilities of the Hood.

Here's a few pics of my cf hood, hatch, and spoiler. Personally I think the oem style hood looks the best.

What name brand hood is that? I also like the stock look the best and thats what I am going to be getting. So I was just wandering what brand to go with. Also you didn't use hood pins. That doesn't scare you, LOL? I have always been told to use pins on these cars. I've seen many a picture of dsms with busted windshields.

The hood and hatch are VIS. VIS upgraded the latch on there new hoods so it should be fine, hood pins are always good for added insurance though. I actually drove with the hood latched but not pushed down once going about 60mph without a problem, I didnt realize it was popped until i stopped, I thanked GOD after that one.

I had a latch issue, but it wasn't hood related, it was the actual lock! I guess it was just broken already and first day I got the car going, barely had brakes and clutch... but just had to drive it... hood flew up and slammed into the window. Turned out the lock broke completely so I had to replace it with another one from a parts car. Had no other issues since.

Fair warning... i had concerns of that myself when i first got this hood.

A good thing to do, if you want an evo hood... clean everything on your block with brake cleaner, since it doesn't have any lubricants... make sure you hit every spot... then spray your turbo, manifold, head and block and exhaust with WD-40 or AntiRust... let it soak in... then let it run for enough time to get hot to burn the rest off... It should work out to make everything waterproof and in the long run, rust proof.

I used to have a picture of the rust it caused, but I can't find it.

I thought the VIS evo hood comes with a rainguard, does the rainguard leak or somethin?!!?!?? I need to know this soon actually, I am about 90% ready to order it. Im trying to get a hood to help the car, not rust it out.

What is this rain guard stuff? I "need" to buy one with vents, bc of my heating issues. My new setup creates a lot of heat and need to get rid of it.

The rainguard that he's referring to is a piece of plastic that screws in underneath the vent to close the vent if you'd like. It does come with one... at least mine did, but I wouldn't say it's leak proof. The vent is placed over the space where your radiator stops and your manifold begins and with the slope of the hood, I'd say that the rain guard does a very good job of 'guarding' your engine/manifold from the rain.

I personally don't use mine at all and have never had an issue with rust and i think that if you search for information on the Greyforest Hood Vent mod, that you'll see that other people with similar vents don't consider this an issue.

I still can't find the VADER hood in fiberglass!!!! Anyone else??? Would be greatly appreciated. :thumb:

The Vader hood is NO LONGER MADE. I've talked to Extreme Dimensions/Carbon Creations which is the company that used to make that hood about 6 months ago. They have replaced the VADER with VADER 2 which looks like crap, IMO.
