Sup Guys new the forums. Hopefully here for the long haul. Ive been dabbling in building cars since i was 16 and now im 29. Built 300ZxTT's, miatas, 240sx's with Sr's Rb's and even Ka-T and LS1 swapped. But now i got a guy wanting to do some trading for his DSM. I know the basics of everycar. But when it comes to DSM im js that old skool mentality of being leary of them. So i got into my nissans. But i have a good offer on one so i figured id let you see a list of what he has done to it. And let me know what you think, or if its shit. I need an honest opinoin. To me looks like a solid build pumping in the 330-350hp range. but again i not familiar with DSM. And it look like he took the time to put the right parts on the engine by adding the right Gen1 parts and swapping out others. Upgraded fuel system and proper breathing. Let me know. Ill be watching this thread closely. AND YES I KNOW ABOUT AND HOW SEARCH BUTTONS WORK, but i need answer on how his build looks to you guys

boost and a/f gauge and a hks turbo timer in the car
walbro 190 lph fuel pump and fuel filter
OBX camber kit for front and back
new tie rods and control arms
b&m short throw shifter
kyb gr-2s
tein lowering springs
full three inch exhaust from the turbo back without any restrictions
small 16g turbo
custom ported J-Pipe
stainless steel header
injen intake
the maf was eliminated, and replaced by a gm 3in mas sensor with a maf
translator
custom stainless steel intercooler pipping and a front mount hks intercooler
custom injen upper intercooler pipping
hks blow off valve
first gen intake
HEAD/ with 1mm oversized valves
264/272 cams
hks adj cam gears
valve guides mildly ported
3rd gen lifters
COIL over PLUGS the block has 2g pistons with brand new rings
1g rods machined for the crank
evo 8 injectors
balance shafts eliminated
alum radiator
act 2100 series clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing

What kind of HP would it be pumping and roughly Torque. Also is reliablitly going to be an issue on this setup as im parting with one of my 240's for this (which is my Daily Driver RB25 SWap)
 
Welcome to dsmtuners. Is the car a fwd or awd? any pics of both cars yours and his? What year is it? I think if you can make 350+ on that setup but i'd recommend that you get a dsmlink to tune with as an add on to the maftranslator. then i know itll make 350+ hp. You should be able to DD with the setup, Im running a similar setup with a 14b, walbro 255, and 1050 injectors, and i DD my car
 
he didnt have a post of the year but its looking like in the pics its a 97-98Vert Spyder GST. As far as 6-7bolt couldnt tell ya man. But i can get more info on it. thats js all he pinged over to me.
 
its a 7bolt for sure.

1g rods machined for the crank

so the pistons are the 8.5:1 2g ones and the crank is a 7 bolt one with the bigger 1g rods.

I would ask him about the head because it says first gen intake and if it is a 7bolt head too, the 1g intake ports don't match.

anyways ask for pictures too

Ya the whole thing with a maftranslator(whatever the hell that is) And as far as my Car goes on my 240 with the Sr that i may trade instead of my rb. IM rocking typical sr20det engine. 555Tomei injectors, z32maf, Greddy FMIC, Dual Fans, walbro 255 pump, JWT tune and im hitting 335hp on 16psi.

But DSM are foreign as hell to me bigtime I was thinking in comparrison it should be pretty damn close in HP for sure given pump fuel. As far as the DSMlink ill have to read more into that. I was js browsing the forums while i was waiting on the replies to hit so tried to read more up on it before homey gets back at me tomorrow.

Both my sr built 240 and my Rb 240 are in the 330 range. Dynod with sheets to prove.

NP ill deff ask on that. I just pinged over the descriptioin he shot me. He gave me some pics, but not sure exactly what pics i need to post on here so you guys can see. So let me know what side of the engine bay and engine you need to see to give me an answer.

WEll its late now but i have to get some sleep so im sure tomorrow when i wake up this thread will have blown up. Hopefully i can get some good insight from you guys. As i see already you guys answer questions quickly. Thanks.
 
I would just post a full shot of the engine bay of both sides if you got it. We could better see the mods and condition of the car. Sounds like a fast setup with some TLC and tuning. :hellyeah:

i'd suggest that you do a quick search. click search, then members, then type in the dudes city and state. then you can see if he's gotta a dsmtuners account. if he does you could read through all of his posts and threads and see what kind of problems the car has had

I also do this. Haha.

From reading it, it looks like the car was going in the right direction. It'd sure be a hell of a lot better if it were AWD, though.

no problem.


also I noticed it also had the red poly motor mounts which is a must have upgrade.


also the cam gears are beautiful.


1 thing though...if you make the trade, see if the guy has the stock taillights.

IMHO I think they look alot better and most people will agree:thumb:
 
Do you have pictures of the other side of the car? I don't want to trash this guy or your opinion of him but I think I have seen this car before and if I'm correct the other side of the car is smashed up.:hmm: I remember the tail lights and the wheels. the whole car just seems very familiar to me. again sorry if I'm wrong but it would be wrong not to say something if I'm right. LMK, other than that looks like a pretty decent car, do an AWD swap and call it a day. :hellyeah:

And as far as the AWD ya gotta source one first. Got a buddy sitting on one atm but he hes not budging on it as it js sits and rots into the group. one of those ppl that says, ya ill get to it. 4yrs later nothing.

Yup yup thats what i garthered. But past that and reading throught the thread i cant pick out much other info on typical help questions.
